WEEKLY HIGHLIGHT:

CRISIS MANAGEMENT

Well, we got here! The weird post Xmas, pre New Year week funk is almost over and we can officially say we got through 2020!

Between baking speciality Jewish bread and participating in another riveting conversation on bringing the UAE and Israel together through cohesive business and opportunities, the year has ended on a hopeful and more importantly, grateful note for all the experiences that have come our way.

Among our usual Shaping Tomorrow and Diversions articles that we hope you love as much as we enjoy dissecting them, our Mind Lab has a piece to take you from 2020 to 2021 with a necessary and significant shift in mindset.

The pandemic showed up a lot of companies this year – for better or worse. Very few companies were prepared to deal with COVID in both agile and adaptable ways, even fewer were prepared to deal with a crisis of any kind. In our article on Crisis Management we explain the importance of perception and getting the right messaging out in a proactive and reactive way – and not just using a PR template response.

The world has changed, and so to must the tactics and teams that companies turn to in today’s ever shifting and unstable world. Time, crisis and news will march on but will your company? And how will it be remembered? It’s worth considering how much that means to you...

Happy New Year to you all! Onwards to the next chapter!

BAKING CHALLA WITH:
THE GULF ISRAEL WOMENS FORUM

Activities with The Gulf Israel Women's Forum soared over the festive period, blending holiday traditions with relationship building events. Putting our best baking skills to task, we served up some Challah – a special bread from Jewish cuisine which is usually braided and typically eaten on ceremonial occasions.

Members of the forum gathered at the Culinary Boutique and connected with members in Israel who guided them in a step-by-step bake off. For first timers, we didn't do half bad! And the taste spoke for itself

JERUSALEM AS A CENTER FOR UAE-ISRAEL TIES.

Another week, another Zoom panel! In keeping with the topic of the last quarter, we participated in a discussion on positioning Jerusalem as the center for UAE–Israel ties. Post the normalization and peace deal between the two nations, talk of further forging connections in a substantive and real-time way, has been high on the agenda. The talk, moderated by Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, the Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem For Foreign Relations for The Jerusalem Municipality, delved into how we can learn from one another to create strong business in the tech and tourism industry among other potential areas for growth. Key speakers were Dr Majid Al Sarrah, an expert in Public Policy, Omar Hassan, the Founder and CEO of MENA Technology Fund and Jon Medved, the Founder and CEO of OurCrowd and Leah Tedrow, our Managing Director of Evoke International. OUR DIVERSIONS

We know everyone says it's not all work, it's about play, too – and as much as we don't want to sound like a broken record, there is truth in the truism. Like we said earlier, we are all about ingesting the complex and the trivial in equal measure. In fact, we love nothing more than thinking deeply about the more 'playful' things in life. Read ' em and ponder away.
