US SUPREME COURT RULES IN FAVOR OF LGBTQ+ RIGHTS

LGBTQ+ activists won a landmark victory in court this week in the fight for workplace equality. The United States Supreme Court ruled Monday that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bans sex discrimination, protects LGBTQ+ people from discrimination in employment. The 6-3 ruling was written by conservative Judge Neil Gorsuch. "An employer who fires an individual for being homosexual or transgender fires that person for traits or actions it would not have questioned in members of a different sex. Sex plays a necessary and undisguisable role in the decision, exactly what Title VII forbids," Gorsuch wrote for the court.
