THE TREASURES OF SALVADOR |
Known by Brazilians as the Motherland and recognized as the birthplace of the country, Bahia is the fourth most populated state in Brazil, located on the country’s northwestern-Atlantic coast. Its capital city of Salvador was founded by the Portuguese in 1549 as the first capital of Brazil and is one of the oldest colonial cities in the Americas. Salvador also boasts an active and vibrant LGBTQ+ community and one of the most popular Pride Parades in Brazil. In this installment of the Tesouros do Brasil (Treasures of Brazil) video series, IGLTA Member João Victor of Blumar Turismo takes us on a tour of Salvador including the historic colonial neighborhood Pelourinho, passing through palaces, churches and charming hotels.
