We have these four brand new paintings by the great Carl Knibb, now hanging in the Gallery. Carl is one of the most self-effacing and humble of painters, never shouting from the rooftops of how good he is, so I'm doing it for him! He is so modest and always shakes his head and wonders why his work is hanging among such talent on the walls of the Gallery. Without any doubt, Carl is one of the finest painters in the country, a painters' painter, as is abundantly evidenced by these absolute gems. Sit down and drink them in - they're truly glorious!

Acrylic 10 x 12 inches £825 A simply beautiful painting of Ponies under the shade of a tree, and as the title suggests, not much in the way of lush grass to munch, but look at how Carl has suggested the burnt ground with such economy of brushstrokes - just brilliant!
Acrylic 11 x 15.5 inches £1150 A lovely composition of inquisitive sheep spotting the onlooker, backlit, so that there is a halo of light on each of the animals, deftly described. And look at those beautiful clouds, again with halos of light, echoing the sheep - the effect you get when looking straight into the sunlight.
Acrylic 9 x 12 inches £795 Another absolute corker of some Friesians grazing - they're just so cattle-ish! The billowing clouds with some radial streaks complete the composition, encouraging the eye to look at the largest tree, then back to the cattle. What makes a great painting? Everything about this, that's what!
Acrylic 6 x 11 inches £625 A timeless piece, depicting two girls walking through a wildflower meadow, with a backdrop of dark trees, accentuating the glow of the grasses and flowers, again with Carl's favourite lighting, looking straight into the sunlight - simply gorgeous!

And, I've just finished framing these five new oils of mine, which I'm so pleased with. Sometimes, you paint something, and it really works, and each of these are in that category. Times are tough and we're selling luxury goods, but we're forever grateful to all of you who repeatedly buy fine art to decorate your walls!
Oil 10 x 17 inches £1350 Hawthorn Blossom lights up our hedgerows every May, and this year is no exception. I loved the paler blue-green of the distant trees, and the mixture of the not very dense foliage of the right-hand tree, lit up on the far side, and darker green on the side nearest to us, the viewers. Finally, lots of fun describing the beautiful white blossom itself.
Oil 12 x 17 inches £1495 Yes, Bluebells can be twee, but I can't resist painting them, and I liked the composition of this one, with filtered sunlight catching the great roots of the left-hand tree and last year's leaf litter.
Oil 10 x 14 inches £995 A group of us had a paint-out day at Black Rocks in the Peak District, but sadly, there was no sunlight, but I was able to describe the heft of this outcrop. Incredibly, there were several Birch trees actually growing out of cracks in the rock!
Oil 10 x 14 inches £1095 This is a view by the River Welland near Tixover Grange, with sunlight entering from stage-left, casting a shadow over the fast-growing vegetation, and I loved the pale blue-mauve of the distant line of trees, and the sunlit water below the right-hand bush. The beautiful red and black spotted, yellow bellied Brown Trout are there, waiting for a snack to drift by...
Oil 8 x 8 inches £625 This was an opportune moment when walking back down the garden path from my studio, when I heard the crackle of fire and peered over our stone wall to see our new neighbour, Tom, burning a load of brushwood. I quickly ran back to grab my camera and took a few photos as the sun was going down over the village behind. It was such fun painting the fire and the beautiful blue smoke, and it immediately brought back memories of being on my Grandad's allotment and jumping over the burning heap - not to be recommended!
