A BIG THANK YOU from our County Lead Volunteer - Tobias Hammond
Over the past few months, we’ve all faced the challenge of completing the updated New Safety Learning ahead of the 14th July HQ deadline. This learning was introduced following the tragic death of Explorer Scout Ben Leonard on the Great Orme, and reflects key improvements based on the recommendations from that incident.
I just wanted to take a moment to share a heartfelt massive THANK YOU for everything you've done in delivering the new safety learning across your Districts and Groups. We understand how busy life can be, and your effort to meet this deadline demonstrates a true commitment to our Scouting Values and Promise. Your dedication has validated your ongoing support for the safety and wellbeing of our young people.
I’m incredibly proud of what West Yorkshire has accomplished — not just in terms of completion rates (99%), but in the thoughtful and innovative ways you’ve supported others along the way. From personal phone calls to those that have gone round to peoples houses with computers and sat with them so others could complete — every action has made a real difference and hasn’t gone unnoticed and thats what makes the family of scouting in West Yorkshire so amazing and special !
THANK YOU again for your commitment, creativity, and teamwork. It’s been genuinely appreciated. - I hope you have a great summer and whatever you are doing take some time to relax and recharge those batteries and I look forward to seeing you all in September at the County AGM.
