EVENTS & news with Matt Finch - Edition 31 |

Hello all
This next few weeks is filled with quite a few choir activities for me - and you're all welcome to join in!
Next week on Friday 23rd, I start the new West Wilts Good Afternoon Choir in Holt at 1pm - just come along, and no fee for the first session. The same evening I'm back at Burdalls Yard for MyPubChoir - again, just turn up, and we form a choir for the night! Then on Saturday Horizons Choir are off to Keynsham Chocolate Factory Retirement home to perform, and then have cake with the audience! The day after is the 2nd of the series of Bath Choir Sundays - Horizons are performing with Viva Vocals, Bath City Singers, West Wiltshire Singers and the Trowbridge Town Singers - so LOTS of fabulous singing. Horizons then finish off that week by singing in Bath Abbey as part of their Lunchtime recitals (2nd March).
There are lots of other concerts coming up - heads up for a Saturday afternoon "Come and sing Hymns with Anthems by Horizons and The Jane Lilley Singers" on May 18th at 2:30pm

GOOD AFTERNOON CHOIRHOLT VILLAGE HALL, WILTSHIRE
Friday 23rd February 1pm to 3pm (every week - following the school holidays)The Good Afternoon Choir pictured above is the Chippenham and Calne Good Afternoon Choir, and I'll be making smiling faces just like this in Holt on Fridays! We will have great fun singing as a group, and having a quick cup of tea too! We sing all sorts of music and once a year meet up with lots of the other Good Afternoon Choirs for a BIG sing.

HORIZONS IN BATH ABBEY
1pm Saturday 2nd March 2024
Bath Abbey has the most fabulous acoustics, and Horizons is lucky to have secured a Lunch time recital slot - approximately 50 minutes long. Lunchtime recitals are included in the general admittance ticket to the Abbey which is currently £7.50 and free to Discovery Card holders and residents in the BA1 & BA2 postcodes (proof of residence required).
We sang there last year and it was magical

MISS RED

Julian Slade Theatre, Prior Park College, BathPrior Park College will be producing a production of the musical that I have been co-writing for the past few years. It got 4 star reviews in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. HORIZONS CHOIR OF BATH & THE NOTEABLES
AT 'PARTY IN THE CITY'
17th May 2024 Bath
6pm in Walcot Methodist Chapel, Walcot Street in Bath
A free night of music in Bath - My choir Horizons will be performing along with The Noteables, and then later on I'll be leading the Widcombe Community Choir in Widcombe Community Centre.

COME AND SING HYMNS WITH ANTHEMS SUNG BY
HORIZONS & THE JANE LILLEY SINGERS
Saturday 18th May 2:30pm
St.Mary's Bathwick
Come and sing some congregational favourites, interspersed with some fabulous choral anthems. The hymns will be accompanied by Bath Abbey's assistant organist Gary Desmond on the newly refurbished organ at St Mary's Bathwick.
Unison, harmony, descants and organ reharmonisations a plenty!
Everyone is welcome to join in this fiesta of hymns!

Horizons Choir and the Jane Lilley Singers will lead from the front, bolstering the harmonies and soaring over the top with descants. After singing a couple of congregational blockbusters the choirs will perform an anthem, exploiting the wonderful resonant acoustics of this gorgeous building, while the congregation regain their breath before singing another classic hymn!
The concert will be no longer than 90 minutes without an interval.

The final of the 4 part concert series. 3 amazing choirs are coming together to share their joy of singing on the afternoon of Sunday 30th June - with special guest choir Cheltenham Children's Choir. The Choirs will also be part of the audience, so tickets will be limited!
