A Beloved Indianapolis Tradition
I’m Renea Gates, Event Director of the N.I.T.E. Ride, past President of the Central Indiana Bicycling Association (CIBA), and a current Board Member of the CIBA Foundation. As an avid cyclist and advocate for community cycling events, I’ve been involved with the N.I.T.E. Ride for many years — both in the saddle and behind the scenes.

My cycling journey began over two decades ago, and it has been a joy to contribute to the growth of this unique ride and the cycling community in Indianapolis.
The N.I.T.E. (Navigate Indy This Evening) Ride is a leisurely, 20-mile, police-escorted night ride through some of Indy’s most iconic neighborhoods and landmarks. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, starting at 11:00 PM from Eli Lilly. Riders will cruise through Mass Ave, the AMP at 16 Tech, Newfields, White River State Park, Victory Field, and more — all under the stars alongside thousands of fellow cyclists.
|
|
Since its launch in 1994, the N.I.T.E. Ride has grown from 600 riders to a sold-out crowd of 2,500, covering over half a million miles of night riding. What started as a dream led by CIBA legend Warren Smock has evolved into one of the Midwest’s premier urban cycling events — fueled by the dedication of over 140 volunteers, 17 committee members, and partners like Bicycle Garage Indy, IMPD, and Indy Parks. Whether it’s your first time or your fifteenth, I invite you to join us and experience the magic of riding through our vibrant city together at NITE!

A Great Bike To Work Week!
We had fun celebrating Bike to Work Week this year. Thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed coffee and breakfast sandwiches, especially those hardy souls that braved the rain. It was an awesome Bike to Work Day Happy Hour at Half Liter. Special thanks to Tinker Coffee for donating their delicious coffee, and Half Liter for hosting the happy hour with 1/2 price appetizers!

Another Bike to the 500 in the Books! |
It was a great day to ride to the Indy 500, and one of our biggest turnouts ever! Thank you to everyone who enjoyed this event with us. Huge shout out to our volunteers who showed up and made this event happen. We couldn't do it without you.
Thanks to The Amp at 16 Tech for sharing their amazing space, to Indpls-Marion County Police Department for escorting us safely to the track, and to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for their partnership.
This is one of our largest fundraisers. Money raised through Bike to the 500 allows us continue our work to advocate for safer cycling infrastructure in our city, provide safe cycling (AND driving) education, and opportunities to ride. Thank you to all event participants for your support.
