Are you in middle or high school and want to make meaningful change? Sign up for Getting to Y and UMatter!
The Youth Risk Behavioral Survey (YRBS) is an anonymous survey that middle and high school students take bi-annually. HMMS students most recently filled this out in October 2021. The data are analyzed at the school and state level by question.

"Why RBS" students analyze YRBS data from their school and decide on one or two metrics they can work to improve at their school and receive funding to do so! Examples include bullying, vaping, nutrition, and mental health.

This program is a collaboration between the HMMS Student Assistance Professional, Janet Potter, HHS Student Assistance Professional, Sue Olmsted, the Hartford Community Coalition (HCC), and VT UP for Learning. If your student would like to participate, they are more than welcome!

Please email Kelly Clements at [email protected] to join!

Free Cricket Cell Phones at the Haven
On every other Tuesday from 9am-12pm the Haven will have a representative from Cricket Wireless at a table out front to help people sign up for free cell phone service, provide info and answer questions.

This service is through the Federal Affordable Connectivity program, and the eligibility is similar to the phone program the Haven was working with before. The company – Cricket – is different though, and because Cricket uses the ATT network (rather than T Mobile) so service will be better.

You can speed up the process of getting a phone by applying online ahead of time at acpbenefit.org. If you meet the income eligibility you'll get a verification code to give to Cricket. You can also just show up at the Haven and talk to the Cricket rep.

If you already have a phone through the previous Lifeline program, but are not able to use it because of service issues, you should be able to switch to Cricket.
