Keeping Cool This Summer

When the temp hits 100 the first thing that comes to mind is: "I gotta to cool off!"

I remember in the 60s traveling to Las Vegas with my family. It was SO HOT in the hotel parking lot that all we could think about was getting inside FAST where it was AIR CONDITIONED. Of course, that's what drove visitors into the COOL casinos!

Then there's what we did back in the day to get cool closer to home. It was the Slip 'n Slide and Water Wiggle, both made by Wham-O (makers of the famous Frisbee!).

No need to drive for an hour to spend a small fortune at a fancy water park. Just roll out the Slip 'n Slide, attach the garden hose, turn it on and let the sliding begin!

And when that fun ran its course, it was time to switch the hose to the Water Wiggle, which kept us entertained and soaking wet for another hour.

And there was also the local swimming pool (McCambridge in Burbank), and occasionally, the ocean (though I always got sunburned).

Well... we can't exactly set up a Slip 'n Slide on the sidewalk in front of Random Acts of Breadness and turn on the water (besides, it's best to do that sort of thing on a nice lawn), but we can help you cool off naturally with our awesome Popsicles and Chocolate Chill...

And by the way... the temperature is always just right inside our bakery. After all, we have a sensitive starter to take care of!

What's Your Sourdough Story?

Through the publication of the Breadness Blog and Breadness Buzz newsletter, I've been telling our stories for over 4 years now. Occasionally, I've written about our customers whose stories I felt should be known by our loyal readers.

Just the other day, a customer started telling us about a few of the rock concerts she went to back in the day; concerts that turned out to be historic! My wife, Cyndie, attended the last Beatles concert in the US at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. Another customer is now working with the guy who produced one of the most iconic and bestselling pop/rock albums of all time.
