As you might guess from the quote up top, Ursula K. Le Guin is one of my most beloved authors. This is a collection of the first short stories she published.
Standouts for me are "Nine Lives" about a group of ten human clones who join a two person mission on a remote planet, and "The Field Of Vision," which I have no idea how to describe except to say it twisted my brain in the best way and I can't stop thinking about it.
Many of these stories offer glimpses into worlds Le Guin later builds out in novels, which are not only brilliant works of fiction, but also invite readers to expand our thinking about capitalism, gender, and race.
