Act Free to Be Free
A critical memo has just emerged from Minnesota outlining a framework for preventing Donald Trump from disrupting or sabotaging the 2026 midterm elections. It presents a strategic analysis — not a program — for preparing and mobilizing a civil‑society response to potential election interference. It explains the nature of the threat and the structure of an effective response, offering guidance meant to support operational playbooks developed by in‑state organizers and pro‑democracy networks.
We will all need to build this framework before the crisis hits, rather than scrambling to react once it inevitably does. Read and download the memo " Act Free to Be Free".
This is an excellent article in the Minnesota Reformer, which is part of State Newsroom, a nonprofit news network in the US that has news rooms in all 50 state capitols. Here are 4 links to new Google documents related to the Act Free to Be Free memo.
Many, many thanks to a key author of the memo, Doran Schrantz, the former executive director of the Minnesota ecumenical progressive group ISAIAH. And thanks to Lisa Ferino (MT-01, Butte) and Micah Sifry (NY-16, Winchester) for bringing this to our attention.

Immigrant Justice Summer Join Indivisible National on Thursday, August 6, at 8 PM for a training about a rapid response plan with coordinated actions your community can do in real time when ICE comes, so you have a plan in advance. Learn the roles people can play within that plan, and hear directly from local groups that have responded to a surge. You'll leave with the knowledge to make a plan adapted to your own community so that when a rapid response is necessary you are ready. This is the third call in the 5-part Immigrant Justice Summer training, open to all Indivisibles.

Stop the Freedom 250 truck from coming to the Big E!
The Freedom 250 truck is a project of Trump's partisan initiative, and not of "America 250," the bi-partisan committee authorized by Congress in 2016.
It is a product of PraegerU and Hillsdale College, two organizations that promote and teach Christian Nationalist revisionist versions of American history in their for-profit curricula. Pushback from freedom-loving citizens has gotten this truck canceled at other locations including recently in Westfield. We can do it again! Please join us in expressing your opposition to the Freedom250 truck being part of the Big E this year by contacting the Big E at 413-737-2443 or info@TheBigE.comThis is a small but important battle we can win. Please spread the word and keep our cherished Big E free from propaganda and welcoming to all.

COMMON CAUSE -
For past election cycles, Common Cause has collaborated with Lawyers for Civil Rights, ACLU Massachusetts, and other organizations to run the Massachusetts Election Protection program. Every election year, this program trained and deployed non-partisan poll monitors on Election Day to observe high-priority polling locations, assist voters, and identify any recurring issues across the state.
Our non-partisan poll monitors are volunteers who work on the front lines to protect democracy by providing guidance and support to voters across the state, ensuring that all eligible voters have an opportunity to participate. Our volunteers work in 3 hour shifts on Election Day, monitoring a high-priority polling location, assisting voters facing obstacles when trying to cast their ballots, and providing voting information to the community. All volunteers will attend a training session, ensuring they have the information and skills to feel ready for their shift.
Are you looking for an opportunity to help defend democracy? SIGN UP HERE to be a non-partisan poll monitor for the 2026 election!
In Common Cause, Geoff Foster, Executive Director, Common Cause Massachusetts

In case you missed it - The IMC Statewide Call on Maximizing the Impact of Election Donations was excellent. IMC hosted a call with speakers from FORCE MULTIPLIER, the MOVEMENT VOTER PROJECT and FOCUS for DEMOCRACY who shared ways to maximize the impact of your election donations. It discussed how to be sure that our donated dollars are effective during this critical election by directing them to viable candidates and successful voter-empowerment groups.

Celebrating The Power of the People The De-ICE Coalition against Citizens Bank funding of ICE prison companies succeeded! Many Western Mass Indivisibles participated in the coalition that forced Citizens Bank to De-ICE earlier this month. This Rachel Maddow video highlights the efforts across the region and links it to the multiple protests being held against ICE prisons, ICE airports and ICE plans to use warehouses for more prisons. Watch for the clips of MA Indivisible activists!

By flipping the U.S. House & Senate and retaking control of state legislatures (where they regulate elections, our bodies(!), and more) We can do exactly this in Georgia! Phonebank for a Bluer GA! Thursday, August 6th, 5:30-7:30pmET Register in advance for this meeting: After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Ben Wikler - To Save Democracy in 2028, We Need a State-Level Strategy Now. A critical election is coming. MAGA has a plan - it’s to create chaos. We need our own plan, and former Wisconsin Democratic Party chair Ben Wikler has it. For local and state elections, for the House, the Senate, the presidency and the Supreme Court. He also takes us well into the future.
It’s all in his new book - “This Is the Plan: How to End America's Meltdown and Save Democracy.” This IMC IndivisiBlog summarizes his key points, flavored by entertaining quotes. He explains how the Wisconsin Democratic Party (under his leadership) pulled the state back from Republican takeover. Wisconsin was “a democracy desert,” but in a few years, the Dems leveled the playing field. Wisconsin is purple, like much of America. Wikler argues that what Democrats did there, activists can do across the country. Check it out!

Announcing Our New (old) Name
We are completing the incorporation of our group as a 501C4 non-profit organization. For the past year we have been operating as a 501C3 under the sponsorship of the Peace Development Fund. Prior to that, we did not have any formal legal status. The legal non-profit status provides protection from personal liability arising from our activities. Our new 501C4 status will enable us to use resources for activities such as support of partisan campaigns, and other political activity that’s not permitted as a 501C3. We took this opportunity to revert to our previous, shorter name of Indivisible Northampton. We maintain our affiliation with Swing Left. We’re just sparing everyone all the extra syllables. You may have noticed our revised logo on our email messages. It will take a little while to get our name changed on social media, but everything other than the name will remain the same. As always, we’re grateful for this strong and vibrant community of activists that we have created together. -- The Indivisible Northampton Steering Committee
