Confidence and self esteem |
|
This information is taken from mind.org.uk
If we have high self-esteem, we feel good about ourselves. And if we feel confident, we feel like there are things we’re good at. But sometimes, our confidence gets knocked, or we don’t like ourselves very much.
We can all feel like this at times, but when we feel like this for a long time, it can become a problem.
Whatever affects your confidence or self-esteem, it's important to remember that you have the right to feel good about yourself.
What is self esteem?
Your self-esteem is how you think and feel about yourself. Your self-esteem can affect how much you:
- like and value yourself as a person
- believe in yourself and the things you can do
- stand up for yourself when under pressure
- are willing to try new or difficult things
- move on from mistakes without blaming yourself unfairly
- believe you matter and are good enough
- believe you deserve happiness.
If you have high self-esteem, the way you think and feel about yourself is likely to be positive. But if you have low self-esteem, you may find that the way you think and feel about yourself is more negative, and you may feel less able to stand up for yourself.
What is confidence?
- Believing in yourself, your abilities and ideas – this could be knowing a suggestion you have in class is a good one, feeling like you can learn a new song your band wants to perform, or knowing you can ask someone out without getting cold feet.
- Understanding and accepting yourself for who you are – like being proud of your sexuality or hair colour, being okay with not being great at sports, or not wanting to change yourself to fit in with others.
Confidence doesn’t mean being ‘outgoing’. You can be quiet or shy and still be confident. And even when someone’s the loudest person in the room, that doesn't always mean they’re feeling the most confident inside.
So what can I do to improve my confidence and self esteem? 1. Be kind to yourself 2. Look after yourself 3. Focus on the positives4. Spend time with people5. Do things you enjoy6. Act confident when you don't feel itTo find more tips and advice visit mind.org.uk

Blow up your frustrations |
Fill a balloon with your worries. With each blow, let go of a worry, a frustration, a bad day or any big feeling. Then either POP it or let it fly around the room - taking all your big feelings with it.
Are you a popper or a let-go-er? (not sure that's a word) Let us know!

Perhaps you love a nature walk or perhaps you feel that your parents drag you outside when you could be inside on screens! Well make the most of your next walk and collect some small sticks that could fit inside an empty bottle. Then, once home, get creative - add some rice, grains, nuts, beads, sand, seeds or pebbles. You've got yourself a calming rainstick to relax you next time you are feeling all arghhhhhhhhh.
|
It turns out that you guys are not spending all your time on phones! A few of you have told me about the art of bullet journaling and I have totally copied you and got myself one. What a great way to stay organised, be creative, make sense of your thoughts and you get to make it all look pretty. This is just one example of how to use your journal but the possibilities are endless.
Are you a bullet-journaler? Then let us know your top tips.
|
We all love the squiggle game and want to celebrate some of those incredible squiggle fixes that you guys come up with.
Not played before? Simply find a friend or family member, ask them to make a squiggle and let your imagination do the rest. Thanks to J, aged 8 for this fantastic squiggle fix - what a great imagination you have J. |
😂Bad Joke Box😂 What is yellow and something you shouldn't drink? A school bus.
