I apologised last week for sending another newsletter rather soon after the previous week's, but I'm not apologising for this one, because I need to tell you about more new work we have in! There is SO much, I'm going to have to build a Nightingale Gallery extension to display it all! Without further ado, I've posted a couple from each artist below, with a loquacious commentary on each - please pardon my enthusiasm, but as an artist myself, I'm compelled to say what makes each painting so captivating. Oil 18 x 14 inches £1575 What a masterpiece this is - can you smell the leather!? David, not only an incredible painter, but a collector of vintage cars and motorbikes, and here he had these two displayed on the 80th anniversary of VE Day this year. David fills his shadows with colour and surprisingly, light, like no other artist I know. There are so many beautiful, subtle colours throughout this piece, but we know the vehicles are black. This is such a snip at just £1575 that it MUST be snapped-up, so don't let it get away if you're considering buying it - it will go, trust me!

Oil 12 x 24 inches £2450 And another masterpiece, again demonstrating how much colour and light David puts into shadows - amazing! Love those ancient cobwebs adorning the rafters!

Oil 16 x 20 inches £1200 The last newsletter was about Chris's work, and he hit the ground running, selling two of the five paintings we have, straightaway! This one is a delicious - look at that shaft of light, so perfectly described with that beautiful transition into darker, shaded water, and that glint of pure sunlight on the oar as it turns the water.

Oil 10 x 14 inches £895 I've painted often with Jenny, and she always manages to get her paintings to sparkle with light, even when there is none there, and this one fizzes with light - dreamy! Jenny is another incredibly hard-worker, tying with Chris Slater for the hardest worker accolade - never a day passes without her touching a canvas with brushes, punctuated only when she's on her way to some distant venue...to paint. Hard work + tons of talent = brilliance!

Oil 8 x 18 inches £975 Jenny paints frequently in Ireland, and this beautiful westward view is iconic, and nobody paints skies better than Jenny - put your sunglasses on to be safe!

Oil 15 x 17 inches, £1650 John, another British master painter, in the latter part of his ninth decade, doesn't do social media, so is not as well known as some more shouty artists, so I'm doing it for him! John has painted all his life, and is one of those you want to watch. I was with him when he painted this at Barrowden in Rutland, and it was very dull, with an ashen grey sky, but John has infused it with light, painting in a bright, lively sky and sunlit buildings with cast shadows, with, of course, John's trademark chap with a couple of mutts. Absolutely glorious!

Oil 18 x 22 inches, £2150 John often adds figures to his paintings, which inevitably gives them a humourous bent, especially with the titles, and you can make up the story in this one. But what a magnificent painting this is - a riot of colour, and the eye is taken on a journey from bottom right, past the bench, through the arbour and around the patio to rest upon all those pots - you must see the painting to appreciate its complexity.

Watercolour 9.5 x 13 inches, £425 I mentioned new work from Nigel a couple of weeks ago, but it deserves repetition, and this simply beautiful watercolour will light up any room. It is simply delicious, with crisp highlights, like the table lampshade and tablecloth top, and lost and found edges like in the chairs. And look at that picture upper right - that frame is so gold with the minimum of decription. All this for £425 - c'mon!

Oil 10 x 8 inches, £475 Yellow and orange v purple and blue, and you've got a vibrant painting, and this is just that, with a beautifully described Iris in the centre. You want to feel that petal coming out of the picture between the fingers.

Acrylic 5.25 x 7.5 inches, £195 Paul, our latest recruit to the PBFA stable, has been a keen birder all his life, and excels in painting birds and animals generally. Paul has a loose, impressionistic style, but you're left in no doubt that he knows the anatomy of his subjects, because they just look 'right'. We have an eclectic mix of his mounted oils, acrylic and mixed media paintings, both monochrome and in colour. And these are modestly priced, all bar one, under £200!

Acrylic 7.5 x 10.5 inches, £185 What a beautifully painted Border Collie, painted in monochrome, so deftly described with carefully placed, minimal brushstrokes, yet it's perfect! Mounted, ready for a frame, for just £185!

Oil 14 x 20 inches, £1950 Despite being incredibly busy in the gallery, I've done some painting myself, and here's one I did of Barndale Wood. It was quite an overcast day, but nonetheless, the Bluebells seemed to glow, and I liked the mystery of the distant hole in the wood. I have several more drying and awaiting frames, so look out for them soon!

Oil 10 x 12 inches, £975 I never tire of painting Silver Birch trees, and I spotted this one by one of the ponds at Idle Valley Nature Reserve at one of our plein air paint-out days. I was scratched mercilessly, trying to get to the water's edge through brambles, then, despite painting it in March, my arms were eaten alive by some Mr Bitey insects. There was the occasional sun shining through, giving a gorgeous sparkle on the water, so had to get that in to bring the scene alive.
