Take a moment to recall the successful events that we held during 2022 – like the monthly ‘Eurocafe’ meetings, three ‘Summer of Europe’ events, a ‘European dining’ evening and a full coach to the ‘National Rejoin March’. We also supported a number of ‘Stand with Ukraine’ events, showing our ‘Dorset for Europe’ banner in solidarity. Individual members have joined and shared information about other important causes, such as ‘Make Votes Matter’, ‘Enough is enough’ and various environmental causes. We are working on a full programme for 2023, starting with an evening with Mike Galsworthy of the European Movement in January (details below). Come and join us! |

March 25th 2023: National Day of Action - Save the date!

The National Rejoin March that took place on 22nd October in London was considered a great success, with more than 50,000 attending. The cross-organisation co-ordinating committee that came together to help with the planning are putting their heads together to identify a suitable date for the next one - probably in autumn 2023.
In the meantime, they have proposed a series of locally-planned events to take place across the country on 25th March 2023, with the aim of having at least one major event per region. We plan to hold at least one street stall in Bournemouth that day, more elsewhere if we can find volunteers. Are you up for it? Please reply to this email to let us know if you are, or if you have any other ideas.

Events Tuesday 10th January 2023, 7 pm.- The State we're In: Virtual meeting with economist Richard Murphy; discussion about the current economic malaise and what needs to be done about it. Early booking recommended (here).
- An Oxford for Europe / Cambridge for Europe Event, supported by Oxford European Association.
Watch
- In case you missed last month's event: watch a recording of the European Movement hosted an 'In Conversation' with Lord Michael Heseltine, Sir Vince Cable, Caroline Lucas MP and Former MEP for London, Seb Dance. Hosting the evening was LBC’s Sangita Myska. The event celebrated European Movement UK's cross-party relationships and demonstrated that despite four of Britain’s most senior and respected politicians having differing views on a plethora of issues, they are all united in the view that Brexit isn’t working and that only together can we reverse the calamity of Brexit and win the Battle for the Soul of our Country.
Three items about the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill:- Five minute explanation about the 'Latest Bit of Brexit Nonsense'. In this new Federal Trust video, Brendan Donnelly argues that the so-called "Brexit Freedom Bill" is both pointless and dangerous. It seeks to repeal thousands of British laws simply because they have a European origin; and it opens the door to the abolition of rights and standards previously guaranteed by European legislation.
- Glasgow Loves EU hosted questions and answers with Catherine Barnard, Professor of European & Employment Law Cambridge, about the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill.
- This briefing from the Food Standards Agency ‘to support delivery of the REUL Bill and associated reforms' shows how complex it is in relation to just their area (rights, safety and protections across multiple other areas are equally complex). Worth looking at the summary.

Please s ign the petition to Parliament "We call upon the Government to hold a Public Inquiry into the impact of Brexit " - The petition was sponsored by Peter Packham from Leeds for Europe. The government have responded to this petition, but there are many flaws in the response - we would like to get it beyond 100,000 signatures so there is a debate about it in Parliament.
