Years ago, in the early days of Curve, I faced moments that tested every ounce of my resolve. I remember nights of exhaustion, wondering if our community’s stories and contributions to society would ever be valued or if our voices could break through the silence and hatred imposed on us. Each pushback only fueled my determination to create a space that reflected our lives: our joy, our love, our struggles, and our victories. And it was our community’s courage and support that kept me going through those dark times.
This election has left many of us feeling enraged, uncertain, and scared about our vulnerable rights, safety and dignity. Yet, as in the early days of Curve, I know that together, we can turn these feelings into strength, resilience, action and hope.
Now is the time to tap into the power of The Curve Foundation, the only national nonprofit championing lesbian and queer women’s culture and stories. We’re doubling down on the initiatives that bring us together and amplify our voices to meet these new challenges. Our work with emerging queer journalists will ensure that our stories are told in our own voices.
Lesbian Visibility Week will be an impossible-to-ignore statement that our community won’t be erased.
Curve Conversations will provide a platform to unite us, share vital resources, tell our stories, and celebrate our culture.
Vice President Kamala Harris said, “This is not a time to throw up our hands. This is a time to roll up our sleeves.” Let's use this moment to uplift and empower each other. Together, we can overcome any obstacle and rise stronger when the world pushes back.
The Curve Foundation will be here to support, connect, and protect our culture as we navigate the treacherous path ahead. I stand with you in the times ahead as we keep writing our story – together.
In strength and solidarity,
