We are delighted to welcome Anglo French community musical project The Fantasy Orchestra to Purbeck - their motto is ‘World Peace One Note At A Time’.
This event is part of the Festival of Europe, which is founded on shared cultures and values, inviting exchanges which transcend borders of every kind.
The Fantasy Orchestra, based in Paris and Bristol, brings together up to 50+ musicians, professional and amateur, to create a kaleidoscopic symphonic brigade.
The Orchestra encourage the audience to join in - either sing along or bring an instrument and join in: email Jesse for music sheets (not guitars, sorry!) - jesse@fantasyorchestra.org
We also have Rob Mills playing his usual mix of jazz improv from 12 - 4 - why not make it a day of free music? Bar is open from 12 - 9pm, and delightful food from our pop up cafe The Sprout and Bean from 12 until late.
This event is free - but please register for a free ticket for the Fantasy Orchestra so we can keep an eye on numbers.
The event is open air like many Purbeck events - so please dress accordingly and bring your own seating. Nearest parking is either in the village or the National Trust car park - or you could take advantage of the regular bus service through Purbeck, or catch the train from Poole - we are right across the tracks from the steam railway station in Corfe Castle.
Sandy Hill Arts is the new arts charity in Purbeck. As well as organising arts events, exhibitions and education we have some 18 studios on site, and have been best known in the past as the home of the Boilerhouse Gallery.
You can find us opposite the railway station in Corfe Castle. New website nearing completion at www.sandyhillarts.co.uk .

Don't forget to book your coach tickets! Join us on Saturday 10th September 2022 to take part in the first ever National March for Rejoin. This event has significant support from pro-EU groups across the country, so it should be BIG.
The coaches will leave Poole about 8.30am and stop in Bournemouth, returning in the evening. Exact times will be advised nearer the time: Book your ticket here. We have a small number of free or reduced tickets for anyone who is struggling with the cost: contact sarah@dorsetforeurope.org.
We will meet at Hyde Park with rejoiners from all over the country at midday, before the family friendly march to our rally in Parliament Square starting at 15.00.
The march will take place five days after the new prime minister is announced: we’re pretty sure a lot of people will have something to say about that, whoever it is!
So, get preparing placards, dig out your EU flags and T-shirts, or buy some new ones from the NRM shop, here. If anyone can help, the march organisers are looking for volunteers: anyone with experience as a marshal, first aiders or others are in demand.
And, of course, marches cost money to set up: there is a crowd fund page so people can contribute if they wish.
