Dear <<First Name>>,

Another successful year has past. I have been honored to serve as president, and wish to note the hard work that our board has put in. Without them, my position would be very difficult! Thank all who have volunteered and or donated. Your dedication shows in what gets accomplished.
Master Plan: At this time we have not received any response or resolution from the DNR.
Over the next 3 months we have dates scheduled as follows:
January 16: Annual Membership Dinner and Meeting (RSVP requested along with $15.00 per person). We have a guest speaker, and will be holding elections for the board.
February 18: Maple Training, and sign up for working the Maple Program and Maplefest (includes lunch)
Maple Setup Day: To be determined
March 4 - April 5 Maple Program
April 5 Maplefest

Happy New Year,
Friends of MacKenzie
Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education (WAEE)

Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education (WAEE) celebrated their 50th anniversary. Some founding WAEE members began some of their environmental education careers with workshops at the MacKenzie Center for things like Project Learning Tree, Project WET, Project WILD.   All three now nationally known environmental education curriculums; all got their start at the MacKenzie Center.  Workshops trained thousands of teachers to use this in their classrooms.  (FYI, these programs still exist, but now housed with Field EdVentures, and the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education).
Did You Know?

Memberships in the Friends of MacKenzie come up for renewal each January, so now is a great time to take care of that.  You can use the form in this newsletter, pay online, or pay in person at the annual meeting on January 18. Even though many of you contribute many volunteer hours (which makes a HUGE difference in keeping the Center running and enabling the Friends to do so many things), you might also wish to become a member. The dues help fund scholarships for schools and other groups when they come to MacKenzie for day and overnight trips (often used for transportation costs), to purchase materials for projects and for the upkeep of the property, and so much more.
