Welcome to the December bulletin.

So here it is, the final bulletin of the year. It's going to be a busy December with two live music acts, a Christmas quiz, two Christmas raffles and a special lunch for our senior members. Our Christmas decorations will be going up shortly to help get everyone into the festive mood.

A word from our Chairman

Welcome to our last newsletter of 2025, which has on the whole been another successful year for the club.

On behalf of myself and the rest of the Committee we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a merry Christmas which leads me nicely to the Christmas raffle. The first prize is a whopping £500 cash plus many more prizes. Tickets are available on the noticeboard till the 20th December. Also not forgetting our Christmas meat raffle on Friday 19th December, offering some grand prizes along with meat vouchers which went down well last year.

On behalf of everyone in the club, we would like to thank Guy Hillier for stepping up to the extra responsibility in the absence of our treasurer Alan, whom we wish a speedy recovery.

And with that I wish you a happy new year.

Club matters

Signing in guests

In recent weeks, there have been several incidents where guests have not been signed in to the Club and guest fees paid. Signing guests into the Club is a legal requirement and your membership will be at risk if you are found to have allowed guests into the Club without signing them in.

Christmas Day opening hours

The Club will be open on Christmas Day from 11:30am - 1:30pm. As in previous years, the Club will be offering members a free pint. However, unlike previous years, it will be the second pint which is free. Members will receive a ticket with the purchase of their first drink and this ticket may be redeemed for a free pint. The Club will also be open in the evening from 7pm - 10pm.

Discount points

All members are reminded that on January 1st, all remaining discount points which have been accrued against your membership cards will be reset to zero. Please make every effort to use your points as quickly as possible.

Membership renewals

All memberships will need to be renewed next month. Any member who fails to pay their membership subs by the end of January will need to reapply for membership and pay the joining fee once again. There will be another reminder in January's bulletin.

Club treasurer vacancy

We are continuing to search for a new Club Treasurer. If you know of anyone with suitable financial experience who would be interested in taking on this role, please send a message to the Club's email address info@thebroadwayclub.co.uk or speak to one of the Committee.

Job opportunities

We are also looking for bar staff who would be prepared to work at the Club on Friday and Saturday nights. Again, if you know of anyone with suitable experience who would be interested in this opportunity, please encourage them to email us.

At the Club this month

Join us on Saturday 6th December for live music from The Remastered

A firm favorite at the Club, they play pop, rock and funk covers from across the decades. They work hard to get as close to the original as possible and strive to create a rich, full sound for you to enjoy and dance to. They're a regular fixture at the Club and it's always a great night!

Entry fee for guests will be £3, payable on the door.

Christmas quiz night

Join us at 8pm on Saturday 13th December for a general knowledge quiz night with cash prizes on offer. Food orders will be taken prior to the event with payment being taken at the time of ordering. Please note that the Committee will no longer be submitting questions for this event.

The wearing of Christmas-themed jumpers is highly encouraged.

New Year's Eve with Dave the Beatle

On New Year's Eve, The Broadway Club presents "The Beatle". Dave Horton, the UK's No 1 solo Beatles tribute, who, sings and plays guitar to his unique backing tracks. Come and join us for a full and authentic Beatles sound.

Entry fee for guests will be £3, payable on the door.

Christmas Meat raffle & Christmas draw

Don't forget about our Christmas meat raffle, which takes place on Friday 19th December between 9pm and 10pm, and our Christmas draw which will be on Saturday 20th December. The sheets for both these events can be found on the noticeboard and prices can range from a single ticket for just 20 pence to £50 for an entire sheet.

Club competitions

The annual snooker competition is finally reaching its conclusion with the finalist for both the singles and doubles competitions having been decided last month. The singles final will be contested between Martyn Brown and Fede Ardiles. The doubles final sees David Homersham and Jim Dunlop taking on Darren Ridgers and Fede Ardiles.

The first ever Club halve-it tournament took place on November 29th with 16 competitors throwing darts in rounds of ever-increasing lunacy. Many thanks to everyone who entered and congratulations to Jamie Hodder who took the win. The tournament will return next year with a few tweaks to the format and some new round variations into the hat.
