Join us this Friday for the Propaganda Game Night as part of the ADAC Canadian Art Hop
Join us on Friday, May 2nd from 6-8 pm for the Propaganda Game Night led by d st-amour, as part of the Art Dealers' Association of Canada Canadian Art Hop from May 1-4.
The Propaganda Game was developed in 1958 by Lorne Greene and Robert W. Allen for the Institute for Propaganda Analysis. The group-based and discussion-driven gameplay introduces players to persuasion techniques, categorizing them into specific types such as “emotional appeal,” “ambiguity,” or “technical jargon.” While framed as a board game, it serves as a structured system for identifying and naming rhetorical strategies.
Throughout the evening, notes, impressions, and frustrations will be collected from participants with the aim of designing a more modern game.
We hope to see you there!

Facilitated by Tobias Ewe Saturday May 10th, 2025 1 - 4pm Free
Do you have a folder of images that you never got around to sorting? Are you embarrassed to show others the mess of images in your Downloads folder? Do you have trouble remembering if your favourite exhibition photograph was IMG001.jpg, IMG002.jpg, or IMG114_final_test_final2.jpg?! If so, this workshop on Tropy is for you!
Tropy is a free and open-source tool designed for managing large collections of images and their metadata. Participants will learn how to import, organise, and annotate images, creating structured and searchable collections.

Learn Soft Skills through the Collaboratory
The Media Collab’s Soft Skills is a monthly program that provides an alternative approach to learning new techniques, software or technological tools through one-on-one or collaborative group sessions. The aim of Soft Skills is to challenge the narrative that technology is hard, and create a learning environment that encourages experimentation and exploration.
Each month the Media Collaboratory will feature a specific Soft Skill that you can explore during our drop-in hours Thursdays from 3-7pm with our Media Collaboratory Coordinator Lianne Zannier.
The Soft Skill running during the Month of May is:
Learn how to make your own thaumatrope!
This 19th century optical toy is a precursor to animated movement and is a fun activity that introduces you to the basics of frame-by-frame animation. This drop-in activity is free and open to all ages.
