Last week was an absolute roller coaster, starting with the unfortunate situation of not being able to play our Derby Blockbuster against Norths on Chatswood Oval due to weather conditions and the ground being closed by the council in an attempt to preserve the works done to it in the off-season.

While this was far from ideal, a solution was needed, and as a result, 1st Grade & 1st Colts travelled out to Easts to play in the early evening and pleasingly, both got a result, 1st Grade winning 29-19 and 1st Colts coming out on top 31-7 despite losing a player to a red card midway through the first half. It was also a wonderful celebration for Brandon Quinn playing in his 100th 1st Grade game and managing to come away with a classic Quinny try, out-sprinting his opposite to dive on a grubber through. In other games, Colts 2's and 3's will play next Tuesday, 9th June, at Roseville Chase Oval while Grade played last night following the washout. It was a mixed result with all games incredibly close (2nds and 3rds both decided with kicks after the bell):
  • 4th Grade: 19-28 L
  • 3rd Grade: 33-31 W
  • 2nd Grade: 28-29 L
As mentioned, last week was a rollercoaster, and on Friday we had the Mary Rossi Annual Gordon Lunch, and it was a fantastic afternoon with close to 300 Gordon Supporters celebrating and catching up whilst being entertained by the 'Brothers in Tartan' Q&A hosted by Pickles and followed by comedian Dave O'Neill doing what he is known to do, get some laughs and ruffle some feathers. Overall, the day was a huge success and timely, with the generous support from everyone across the various fundraising initiatives helping to offset the loss of the North's home game.

Finally, on Sunday at Bunnings Artarmon, we had plenty of volunteers (and thanks to those who came down) giving up their time as we raised funds for our Women's program.

This week we go into the bye round, so everyone can refresh prior to a big second half of the season, which should see us host 5 solid home games, and look forward to seeing you all at Chatswood.

The Friends of Gordon Foundation was established in October 2021 to help Gordon Rugby remain both competitive and financially stable. Its goal is to create an environment and culture that supports ongoing success at every level for years to come.

Full details of the Friends of Gordon Foundation and how we operate can be found on the Gordon Rugby website.

In just under 5 years, we have raised over $575,000 in donations, from which we have been able to provide grants to Gordon Rugby to enhance the rugby program in all aspects and provide developmental opportunities for players amongst other things, the Gordon Juniors as well as build up a Future Fund that will help to ensure the long term future of Gordon Rugby.

We thank all donors for their generosity and support.

50% of all donations received in the current year are made available for eligible Grants under the Australian Sports Foundation Guidelines, whilst the remaining 50% is paid into our Future Fund.

With the end of the 2025/2026 Financial Year only weeks away, this is an ideal opportunity to consider a tax-deductible contribution to support the Foundation and help to ensure that the Club remains a strong force in the Sydney Rugby Union's first division competition for the foreseeable future.
