First up, what a summer it's been so far! We're loving the sunshine ☀️ but it has been a bit hot at times 🥵! The good news though, is that The Chocolate Shed has air conditioning🌬️

⭐So, if you're feeling a bit hot and bothered, we have a few last minute slots available for August, so why not bring a group of friends or family to our cool chocolate haven!⭐

And, while we're on the subject of friends and family, if you are starting to think about festive celebrations and gatherings 🎅, then get in touch! 'Early bird catches the worm' as they say... Booking now means you'll have the first choice of dates and times of day. 😉

Master your chocolate skills!

📅Coming up on 13th September will be our third and last half day immersive Chocolate Skills extravaganza workshop of 2025 (there will be more in 2026, for certain though!). 4 hours of chocolate!

⭐ If you are thinking of taking up a new hobby to while-away the dark days of winter (a hobby which will make you extremely popular with your friends and family too! Plus will come in handy with homemade Christmas gifts!), then do book your space!

💡 Also ideal for those who have dabbled with chocolate crafting previously, those who may want to enhance their professional CV or anyone who just LOVEs chocolate and wants to have fun!

Book 13th September

Our chocolate skills workshops are typically small groups of 3-6 people (although there may be more) and are hosted by our professional chocolatier Sally. Primarily focused on chocolate tempering, each guest will get multiple opportunities during the session to master the technique of getting the perfect shiny chocolate finish. All the chocolate made in the workshop can be taken home to enjoy. Previously guests have made ~ 1kg of chocolate each!

Among the many skills which may be covered (exact content will be decided on the day as a group discussion) will be:

hand piping & decorating
moulding shapes (solids and/or hollow shapes)
painting with cocoa butter
chocolate flavouring

Lunch is also included in the workshop- made by the lovely people at Yew Tree Farm Shop opposite us.

Hen party trends for 2025!

🎉Hen parties have been extremely popular the past few weekends and for the first year ever it has been an almost 50:50 split between:

chocolate truffle making (we recommend our 2-hour Discovery Truffles package)
chocolate bars (our specially designed Choc-tastic for adults workshop).
(Past years, truffle making has always come out tops!).

❤️It really made us over the moon when @adventures_in_redditch commented out of the blue on one of our Instagram posts to say that they had a workshop with us (5-6 years ago) as part of their hen weekend and it was the BEST thing they did that weekend!

⭐Our workshops are ideal for a morning or afternoon activity which can include everyone- from Grandma to little nieces AND from those who may be abstaining from heavy nights out to those who will be partying on the town with you all later that day.

Out & about in the Midlands

There's lots and lots of summer guides on social media at the moment but three things caught our eye:

Bulls in the City : The summer trail this year in Birmingham is in aid of Birmingham Hospice and has the theme of bulls. I first saw this previewed this time last year. Will you go on the hunt, or perhaps you've already seen them? 🐂
Jason and the adventure of 254 at Coventry Herbert Art Gallery & Museum: an art exhibition by Jason Wilsher-Mills exploring is childhood memories of a traumatic diagnosis which coincided with the same time as Seb Coe won the gold medal at the Moscow Olympics in 1980 for 1500 m. 🎨
Stratford Butterfly Farm: celebrated its 40th anniversary at the start of July. Who else grew up with trips to see the butterflies? Have you been recently? 🦋

Please note, we've not been to the above events yet- these are simply things which caught our eye and are on our wish list for the coming month!
