Background: The Province of Ontario’s Bill 212 is proposing to wastefully tear up millions of dollars of newly constructed roads to distort how Council balances competing demands for street space, climate action, affordability, road safety, tree cover and quality of life.

assessment of the proposed legislation) has this to say to the Premier Ford:
"Based on local knowledge and community input, municipalities develop transportation plans that balance traffic flow with planning priorities like active transportation, multimodal transportation and environmental and health protection. AMO is not aware of any consultation with municipalities regarding bicycle lanes or of the evidence the province considered in its decision”

Please take a few minutes for one or more ways to make your voice heard.
Action 1: Send an email to the Ontario Legislative Committee members reviewing Bill 212, the Premier, and Minister of Transportation telling them why you think the Midtown Yonge Complete Street should stay.
Here’s a sample email for you to personalize with your experience using the complete street on Yonge and how it has affected your travel choices.
Action 2: Email City Council about item “2024.CC23.1 - Respecting Local Democracy and Cities” before Wednesday and urge Mayor Chow to defend the Midtown Yonge Complete Street against Bill 212. Go to this
City Council agenda item and click on the “Submit Comments” button at the top of the screen just below the item number.
Action 3: Call or text Premier Doug Ford at 647-612-3673 and tell him why you want to keep the complete street on Yonge. This is his personal cell number that he has published for “constituents to call him at any time.”
