Hello <<First Name>> , and welcome to our February Newsletter!
February might be the shortest month, but there’s still plenty happening across Rutland and Stamford. As winter starts to loosen its grip, we’re bringing you a fresh mix of local stories, community updates, and things to look forward to as we edge closer to spring.

From live music and upcoming events to local voices and hidden gems, remember to grab a cuppa, get cosy, and tune into Rutland & Stamford Sound.
On 5 March, we will be celebrating our fifth birthday. Over the past five years, we are proud to have built a loyal following of listeners who highly value Rutland & Stamford Sound as an important source of local news and information.

As part of our birthday celebrations, we will be running a window-dressing competition, inviting local shops to dress their windows in our blue and green colours during the week beginning 2 March. For details on how to enter, please click here.

On the day (5 March), we will run a bus tour around the Rutland and Stamford area, stopping in towns and villages along the route. Rob Persani will be broadcasting live from the bus, and we are inviting local community groups to join us along the way. For more details, keep listening and follow us on social media.

We are grateful to Bland’s for their support with our celebrations.
During January, we asked you to share your thoughts on whether FM is important to you. It is clear from your feedback that there is still strong local demand for FM, particularly among people with older vehicles, and many also want to listen to Rutland & Stamford Sound on FM at home.

Armed with your feedback, Rob Persani travelled to London for a meeting with the Ofcom radio licensing team, and it was very useful for Rob to be able to share listener comments. The response from Ofcom has been encouraging. They have committed to conduct a consultation on proposals to include new FM community licenses among their priorities for 2026 and beyond. If this becomes a reality, it will be the first time since 2019 that Ofcom have issued new FM community radio licenses.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our long campaign. If you have not yet signed our petition, you can do so here.
