The Myriad Meanings of Labor Day...

Labor Day is one of those holidays that has evolved with time. Originally commemorating the victories won for the rights of workers, today, Labor Day means the turning point of summer heading into fall and one last chance to fire up the barbeque grill.

For Cyndie and me, it's a weekend to celebrate our Labor of Love: the breads and baked goods we make and sell at the bakery, and the work we and our team put into creating this magical little place called Random Acts of Breadness.

And let's not forget the labors of love our food-crafters put into the artisan products that complement our breads: Raw Farm Butters, Laura Ann's Jams, Lisa Grabow's Tapenades, Yemetz Family Skinless Almond Butter (and skinless almond flour we use to make the Blueberry Muffins), Clif Family Honey Spreads, Ojai Olive Oil Company's Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Balsamics, and Ritrovo Selections Balsamics.

It's also the end of our 3-Year Anniversary month, which happens to kick off the beginning of Sourdough September, starting this Sunday, the 1st! (More on that in the next few Buzzes...)

It's been a special year here at Random Acts of Breadness as we've seen a number of our customers arrive with "one in the oven." As they've gotten their Breadness most every week, we could see the baby progress until we didn't see them for a week or two.

Then, mommy and baby arrive at the bakery and we are overjoyed!

For some expectant mothers, our sourdough bread has been a godsend as other breads and many foods can no longer be tolerated by the mom-to-be. I am blessed to have created a bread that is organic, bio-friendly, and nourishing.

Looks like moms, babies (and dads) are doing just fine.

 

Why is this sourdough roll so sad?

Also, we can slice your bread(s) different thicknesses. Our most popular are Medium (about 5/8") and Thin (about 3/8") but we can do in between as well. Just ask! If ordering on line, enter your slicing preference(s) in the Special Instructions box during Checkout.

Do we ship? Absolutely! 
If you (or someone you wish to gift) live within 120 miles of Los Angeles, we can ship on Wednesday or Thursday (via UPS Ground) and in most cases your Breadness Box will arrive on Thursday or Friday. Place your order before Wednesday morning here. If you live outside of So Cal, we can now ship 2-Day Air (or Ground service) on Wednesday (unsliced bread) for Friday delivery (orders that require 2-Day Air shipping must be in by Wednesday morning!). Join our growing list of nationwide customers who look forward to receiving their Breadness deliveries on a regular basis!
