Network Lead - Patrick Warden
We’re delighted to announce that Patrick Warden has been appointed as the new Network Lead for West Yorkshire Scouts, in the 14-24 Team.
In this role, Patrick will be supporting Scout Network members across the county, helping to create opportunities for adventure, personal development, and service. His focus will be on strengthening our Network provision, bringing young adults together, and ensuring every member has the chance to shape their Scouting journey.
Please join us in giving Patrick a huge welcome as he steps into this important role. We can’t wait to see the impact Patrick will have on supporting and inspiring Scout Network members across West Yorkshire!

County Treasurer - Linda Malloy
We’re delighted to announce that Linda Malloy has been co-opted by the board of Trustees to serve as our County Treasurer.
I am delighted to welcome Linda to her new role. As many of you know, Linda is a highly experienced, knowledgeable and much respected member of our Scouting family who will add much value to the Trustee Board.
I am sure you will join me in welcoming Linda to her new role and, of course, our thanks to Linda for her unswerving commitment to supporting our Scouting family here in West Yorkshire.

World Scout Jamboree - Find out more Session |

Join us to find out how you can be part of the UK Contingent heading to the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Poland in 2027!
Whether you're a young person or parent – this session will tell you everything you need to know about how to apply, what’s involved, and what to expect.
To participate as a Youth Participant, individuals must be between 14 and 17 years old at the time of the event. This means they should have been born between 30 July 2009 and 30 July 2013 and be a member of West Yorkshire Scouts |

The West Yorkshire Scouts Archive & Heritage Team are collecting stories from past World Scout Jamborees – whether you were a participant, leader, IST member, or volunteer. Your experiences are part of our shared history, and we’d love to hear them!

Applications are now open for young people to be part of our Unit for the World Scout Jamboree, taking place from 30th July – 8th August 2027 in Gdańsk, Poland

Do you love inspiring young minds? We’re working in partnership with the Raspberry Pi Foundation to build a programme delivery team that can support leaders in Districts and Groups to deliver the Digital Maker badge.
If you believe you can help build digital skills across Scouting in West Yorkshire and would be interested in receiving bespoke training from Raspberry Pi to develop your own skills, then sign up for one of our upcoming information calls to learn more.

An opportunity to get involved in making a real difference to your environment and gain a Community Impact Staged badge.
Squirrels in Kirklees are being asked to go to a nearby woodland area and collect fresh acorns to keep safely.
Then, on October 4th, they are invited to come to a special site behind Castle Hill, Huddersfield to plant their acorns.
There will be two sessions to book onto - one meeting at 9.00am and one at 11.00am. Each session lasts 2 hours. Full details will be sent out to those showing interest.

Programme Ideas & Networking (PIN) Day |
22nd November - A support day to help you in your role covering... programme ideas for all sections, digital tools support market place with campsites, and other organisations ( like RSPB, Canal & Rivers Trust, National Trust and local faith leaders.) Meet the activity teams and find out what is possible for each section. Have a go at some crafts and activities Visit the scouting museum and a fantastic opportunity to network with volunteers from across the county both old and new.

Scout and Cub 1000 Trees Challenge |
An opportunity to join an environmental project and make a real difference to your environment and gain the Community Impact Staged Badge.
Kirklees council are joining with West Yorkshire Scouts to plant 1000 trees on a site near to Castle Hill, Huddersfield. T
hey have asked for the help of Cubs and Scouts to come to a planting day on Saturday November 29th. There will be three sessions to choose from each designed for up to 50 people 9.00am - 12.00pm 11.00am - 2.00pm 1.00pm - 4.00pm
Cost is £2 per young person. Please book as a troop or pack and let us know the approximate number of young people and leaders

Bradford University Science Badge We are pleased to announce some exciting opportunities for Scouts and Cubs to gain their science badge working with Bradford University's STEM centre.

Scouts Date - November 1st There will be an option to book onto a morning session (10.00 - 1.00pm) or the afternoon session (2.00pm - 5.00pm) Each session is limited to 30 participants.

To gain the badge, members should take part in any 4 activities from the themed areas.

A Wood Badge (Wood Beads) is globally recognised as the badge of a fully trained Leader or Manager in Scouting. It is optional in the UK, and part of the Branching Out programme that can be followed after Growing Roots has been completed.
The Section Wood Badge is for volunteers focussed on programme delivery.

Scouts of the World Award (SOWA) Discovery events |
The Scouts of the World Award is all about delivering a project that makes the world a better place and it is one of Scouting's Top Awards. Attending a SOWA Discovery is the compulsory, first step to begin your award.

Are you looking for a challenge for your section? Derbyshire Scouts Kinder Extreme & Kinder Challenge are hill walking events in the Peak District, open to teams of Scouts, Explorers, Network & leaders. This year’s events are on Sunday 12th October with both starting and finishing at Chapel-en-le-Frith in the High Peak. The Kinder Extreme set over 30km whilst the Kinder Challenge is shorter at 16km and is ideal as an introduction to hill walking for the Scout section. To book teams onto either event or to find out further information please visit www.derbyshirescouts.org/kinder. Teams entered and paid for by the 18th September will also be eligible for a free, exclusive Kinder t-shirt.

Join our Community Cast and be part of a spectacular celebration of our incredible district and the people who live here.
Bradford 2025 is looking for 80 Bradfordians aged 5 and upwards to take part in an epic large-scale outdoor event, taking place this December. Have you ever attended a live performance and thought ‘I wish I was in that’? This is your chance to be part of something really special. No prior experience is needed, just a willingness to join in and be part of a large intergenerational cast live on stage. Leading up to the performance, you will take part in fun weekly rehearsals learning movement and performance, led by a professional team of directors and choreographers. You will learn new skills and meet new people from across the district. Sign up for a Community Cast recruitment session before 3 September 2025. Please read the Frequently Asked Questions below for more information and to make sure that you are available for the rehearsals and show dates.
