State Forward Testing
All students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be taking the state assessment (known as the "Forward Exam") the week of April 8. A few things that families can do to help students feel well and perform well on the assessment:
• Be in school every day. Students that miss days have to take the test on a different day, which means missing more learning. There will be at least one test every day on April 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.
• Have a pair of wired, working headphones. They are needed for all of the tests. Ask your child and replace if necessary (Dollar Store headphones work fine)
• Get sleep and eat each day. Rested bodies that have food in tummies allow students to think about what they are doing on the test.
• Encourage a positive attitude! Our students have learned so much and this is a chance to demonstrate it!
• If your student is anxious, assure them that the test is untimed (students can take as long as they need) and that it is to see how they are growing.
• Ask your teacher or Mr. Sepersky if you have any questions about Forward testing.
