NOTE: If this is your first Breadness Buzz, or if you've been part of our tribe but missed earlier posts, visit the Breadness Buzz Archive here and catch up on this content written especially for you (by me!). It's a great way to meet like-minded artisan sourdough aficionados and be part of this journey I started back in 2016. And now for this week's Buzz...

(the following is sung to the tune of "Summertime"...)

Summertime
and the Breadness is punky
Folks are sweatin'
and the temperature's high

Our loaves are soft
and the crust oh-so chewy
Your Breadness is waiting this weekend
come on by...

Artisan sourdough bread may not be the first thing you think of when temperatures soar to over 100 degrees, but we're not your ordinary bread shop...

Last year I created 2 summer coolers that had to meet the following criteria:

1. Should be refreshing

2. Should tickle your taste buds

3. Should be sugar-free

4. Should replenish electrolytes

The result was our Chocolate Chill and Balsamic Breeze beverages, and customer response was pretty awesome!

Now that Mister Sun has decided to turn up the heat this weekend (or Mrs. Clouds is off vacationing in Tahiti), we're ready to make our Balsamic Breeze and Chocolate Chill drinks just for you!

Both of these made-to-order chilled beverages contain natural electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium) to help replace what's lost from sweating, or staying in an air-conditioned space for extended periods of time. (Air conditioning pulls moisture from the air and your body.)

Balsamic Breeze comes in several flavors. Just choose the Balsamic Vinegar you like and we'll mix it into chilled San Pellegrino sparkling natural mineral water. Besides the 4 flavors on the above poster, we also have Fig and Espresso balsamics! What's unique about this chill is that it tastes like a soft drink with a flavor all its own.

Chocolate Chill is like a cold hot chocolate, just what's needed during the hot days ahead. It's sugar-free, dairy-free and vegan, yet it tastes like the real thing. That's what makes it so special...

Free Bread!

Why is Rosele so excited? Because she completed her Frequent Flour Rewards card and got her FREE Country Loaf to take home and enjoy. We had 3 other customers complete their FFR cards as well, but we were so busy last weekend that we didn't have time to get photos of every one of them. But you can see their punched cards on our Wall of Fame located on the side of our slicer and continuing up the side of the wall by the entrance!

We also gift Petite Loaves to FFR members whose birthdays fall during the week we are open. Here are 4 such recipients with their Breadness Bags and Birthday Bling. Oh, and we serenaded them with the Happy Birthday song as well...

Crisps are a Hit!

We launched our Breadness Crisps flatbreads last week and after giving people samples, most bought a bag of them right then and there! Available Unflavored, or misted with Organic Tuscan Herbs Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil, or Organic Applewood Smoked Extra Virgin Olive Oil flavors.

Our Cinnamon Raisin Maple Pecan Breadness Crisps are a treat all by themselves. They're crispy but also chewy in parts where a touch of moisture remains from the raisins and maple syrup. But if you're at home and have the time and the space, feel free to have a little butter on the side...

Breadness Crisps. It's a nourishing snack. It's a classy flatbread. It's fun to eat. It's all of the above! Come to our micro-bakery for free samples...

Sold Out!

Next Starlight Bowl Concert (and another chance to win a $50 Breadness Gift Card) is Saturday, July 15th featuring Yächtly Crëw performing a highly entertaining set of Yacht Rock. This show is SOLD OUT so if you don't already have your tickets, see if there's any tickets left for next week's concert featuring The Fab Four, in my opinion, the best Beatles tribute EVER!

This week at the bakery: Sunshine Sourdough and more...In celebration of the sun, I cut a sunshine pattern into this loaf to see how it would turn out. Not exactly how I thought it would look, but unique nonetheless!

We're baking 180 loaves of Breadness this week (156 Country Loaves + 24 Cinnamon Raisin Maple Pecan Sourdough Loaves). Plus we've restocked our Extra Virgin Olive Oils, Balsamic Vinegars, Tapenades, Honey's, Jams and Raw Butter! Come by Friday or Saturday between noon and 1pm and you might catch bread coming out of the oven. Friday afternoon you can see dough being stretched, divided and shaped.

Random Acts of Breadness is located at 2214 West Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank (2-1/2 blocks east of Buena Vista on the south side of the street).
