Or to put it another way: does everything that he’s banging on about actually work...?!
Well, to answer that I’ll ask a third question…
What’s moving house got to do with hip pain? We’ve recently moved house to Somerset in time for our eldest to start school. As a hospital surgeon, I’ve been used to moving house a fair bit but two things made this one extra special. I have NOT:
- Moved house in a while; or
- Moved house with a family of little ones in tow.
And boy, did I under-estimate that last one!
Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s been a good move. Our new place is great, the people are lovely and, most importantly, the kids are loving it and have made some new friends.
But moving house isn’t known as one of THE most stressful life events without good reason. It knocked everyone in our family out of their routine.
Example- our youngest couldn’t start back in nursery for 3 months and I haven't been able to find the teapot for 3 weeks. It's in one of theses boxes somewhere...
Time appeared to shrink. Especially when we moved house lock, stock, and barrel. Every waking minute was taken up with keeping everyone fed, watered, dressed and bathed.
And the time for looking after ourselves disappeared. Replaced by an epic search for the library card, school uniform or that bloody teapot.
There are more disruptive life events for sure. But this one’s forced me to think about the interplay between real life and hip pain.
So, I'll get to the point! As we ‘speak’, this is where I’m at:
