A Newsletter from the School District of South Milwaukee
In this episode, we’re delving into what Career and Technical Education is at South Milwaukee.
History in our country is a pendulum, swinging back and forth, directing where we pour our energy. The 1990s and early 2000s saw a push toward a college education and attendance for all of our students because a high school diploma was no longer adequate for the job market.
That pendulum has swung again, maybe to somewhere in the middle and we’re finding rewarding, well-paid careers are not only for those with college degrees but for those with the skills to excel in a profession, so high schools are adapting and teaching those skills as part of a free public education.
Thank you to the more than 500 people who came out to Picking Up STEAM - the first-ever night dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Thank you, too, to the area businesses that donated prizes for our raffles! Children and families who completed our scavenger hunts had their names entered into the raffle! Thank you to:
Skyline Catering; Azteca Restaurant: Better Together Cafe: Cousins Subs (Chicago Ave.): the BP Station on Rawson: Parkway Floral: Studio One Art Glass and: Tracker's Pub and Grub!
It's budget season for school districts across Wisconsin. The School District of South Milwaukee is facing a deficit that the School Board has to decide how to close. Click below to learn more about the budget and what that might mean for the 2023-24 school year.
Beginning on March 5th, 2023, Milwaukee County Transit Service Route 52 that has stops on 15th Ave outside of the Middle School will change.
There will no longer be stops on 15th Ave. The closest stops to the Middle School and High School will now be located at the intersection of 15th Avenue and College Avenue - Stop Numbers 8365 & 8347.
