We understand it has been moved to Representative Hall because a large crowd of hunters, trappers, and other supporters is expected to attend.

Please attend if at all possible.

We are also seeing that we are being outnumbered in the remote voting, so if you haven't yet, take a moment to vote remotely. The vote currently stands at 367 in favor and 183 opposed. We need to increase the number of opposing votes, so please share this effort.

The Moose Has It Right

On February 3, 2026, the New Hampshire Fish and Game and Marine Resources House Committee will hear CACR 15 (Constitutional Amendment Concurrent Resolution), which would make hunting and fishing a constitutional right in New Hampshire. This type of legislation does not go to the Governor for signature. If it passes the Legislature by a supermajority vote, it will be placed on the ballot for NH voters to decide. Let's do the work to make sure it doesn't go that far.

Reasons to OPPOSE

Wildlife management must be science-based and flexible; constitutional rights make it harder to adjust seasons, limits, and protections as conditions change.

Constitutions are not meant for recreational activities and lock policy into place rather than allowing adaptive conservation.

A constitutional right can undermine conservation and the public-trust doctrine, prioritizing one user group over wildlife and ecosystems.

It may be used to challenge animal-welfare laws and restrictions on harmful or cruel practices.

Hunting and fishing are already legal and well-regulated in New Hampshire, making a constitutional amendment unnecessary.

CACR15 is a solution in search of a problem. Hunting and fishing are already legal, regulated, and protected; adding them to the NH constitution would introduce unnecessary risk and rigidity without providing meaningful new protections.
