FY26 Pilot Project (PP) FOA. AR INBRE will offer PP funding for up to 12 months with a direct cost budget not to exceed $50,000. Project Leaders will be required to commit three-person months (25% annual effort) to the project during the award period and will be required to include a minimum of TWO undergrad students in the project.
Eligible applicants include full-time permanent faculty members with an unmodified title at the rank of Assistant Professor, or higher, at the PUIs in Arkansas. We anticipate awarding six PPs to start May 2026.

Competitive Shared Instrumentation Awards. This funding opportunity announcement is limited to four-year, Primarily Undergraduate Institutions (PUIs) in Arkansas. Investigators from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences are not eligible to apply. Funding period would be Dec 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026.
The purpose of this announcement is to provide shared equipment grants to AR INBRE network institutions. We anticipate awarding up to five proposals of up to $50,000 each. Please note that only one award per institution will be made.

UAMS Showcase of Medical Discoveries focused on Arkansas INBRE. Arkansas INBRE is the feature of the next UAMS Research Showcase to be held on Thurs, Nov 20, 4 to 6 pm, at the Jack Stephens Spine Institute (12th Floor) (driving directions). Showcase will include 10 poster presentations: History of the EPSCoR/IDeA Programs, AR INBRE Overview/Administrative Core, DRPP Program, Research Technology Core, Bioinformatics/Data Science Core, Outreach Core, Summer Undergrad Research Program and posters by DRPP funded investigators from Hendrix College, University of Central Arkansas and University of Arkansas Little Rock. Showcase is open to the public (sorry, no undergrads). More

Now Accepting Applications: 2026 Summer Undergrad Research Fellowships. Looking for a summer research experience? Paid two 10-week summer research fellowships – Mentored Summer Research Program and Professional Research Opportunity are available for undergrads who are rising juniors or seniors. Selected students will work on a project relevant to human health led by a faculty member at either UAF or UAMS. The scope of the projects range from lab based research to clinical studies using human subjects. Program runs from May 26 to July 31. Fellowship includes $8,000 stipend and research supply budget provided to the mentor, as well as an available travel award. Applications and all materials are due Feb 2. More

AR INBRE Annual Research Conference Program now available. The Arkansas INBRE Research Conference involves participation from colleges and universities in Arkansas and surrounding states in biological sciences, physics and chemistry and biochemistry. This Conference is sponsored by the Arkansas INBRE and is hosted by the departments of Biological Sciences, Physics, and Chemistry and Biochemistry – Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, University of Arkansas. If you registered to attend the Conference (which is at capacity), we look forward to seeing you at the Embassy Suites Northwest Arkansas in Rogers next Friday and at UAF on Saturday. All Expense Paid Opportunities with the IDeA National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics The National Resource has opened their applications for their all expense paid opportunities for 2026. These opportunities are available for researchers nationwide and include onsite workshops and internships to learn more about quantitative proteomics. In addition, we have a voucher program that can help defray the cost of your proteomics project. Apply by Dec 31.

Training Program: Up to 2 faculty or core staff. 2 weeks at the National Resource during 2026.

National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) Program Update. As an NIH common fund program, funding for NRMN has ended as of June 30. As a result, program activities, events, and services have been temporarily shut down. The prime institution for NRMN, the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNT Health Fort Worth) is working on making these resources available and will inform you when such resources are available again.

Through the CRCNS program, the participating funding organizations support collaborative activities that span a broad spectrum of computational neuroscience research, as appropriate to the missions and strategic objectives of each agency. Council on Undergraduate Research-Goldwater Scholars Faculty Mentor Award recognizes faculty mentors who conduct their research in a STEM discipline, as defined by the Goldwater Program. Mentors must have mentored a minimum of three Goldwater Scholars during their career. $5000 will be awarded to the recipient’s institution and dedicated to support of the faculty mentor’s research program and/or current undergrad researchers.
