What services does Community Access Squad provide for an individual?
"We offer a pick up / drop off service of regular weekly social events, skill based events, paid work experience and inclusive sport events with career based permanent carers. Our employed staff are there week in week out which makes for 100% reliability, safety and professionalism, We have never let anyone down in our 8 years of service and after thousands and thousands of unique events. We also offer a 1:1 CAS Care service outside of our weekly events timetable for more personalised choice or events outside of our operating hours."
How did Community Access Squad all start?
"Luke (the owner) was teaching in Supported Education for about 8 years and caring casually outside of school hours. Eventually He had the idea to combine his love of adventure, exploring, caring and sport into a single business and Community Access Squad was born. Our first 2nd hand clunky Squad van was purchased in October 2015 and we haven't stopped growing since and we now have a fleet of 6 of the best Hiace vans on the market beautifully individually wrapped with our logos to help spread the word of the Squad. We have already ordered our 7th van to arrive in mid 2024."
How can I choose the events I want to attend each month?
"Through our website at www.CommunityAccessSquad.com we have monthly event calendars uploaded for each region that we operate in. A free member sign up is required first which can be found on the website which kick starts a simple process to becoming a squad member."
How do I make a referral for a client or who should I contact if I am interested?
"Guiding potential squad members to our social media pages (@CommunityAccessSquad) and website is the best way initially to get a feel for what we are all about. From there you simply sign up for our free membership and we will contact you for a meet and greet to discuss all the finer details so we can get you out experiencing life."
What has been the biggest achievement and event so far?
"We have just recently finally made it north of the river to the City of Stirling and to the very South West of Bunbury, Buellton and Margaret River. This has taken 8 years to be able to start this financially and logistically. We now operate in those cities weekly plus the cities of Fremantle, Melville, Cockburn, Canning and Kwinana with 6 vans operating during the week and another new van on order. We now have over 50 carers involved with the Squad and over 125 squad participant bookings every week of the year (except for one week after Christmas for holidays)."
Is there anything else you would like to share with the WA community?
"We have just started our CAS Stirling hub this January 2024 and we would love to spread the word to any residents in this area who would benefit from our service. We are currently operating Monday and Tuesday in Stirling just initially and we will expand the days as our numbers grow."
Thank you Luke for sharing some insights about CAS and the positive difference CAS makes!
