Customer Quote of the Week:

"Now I don't have to go to Europe or Quebec to find good bread!"

NOTE: If this is your first Breadness Buzz, or if you've been part of our tribe but missed earlier posts, visit the Breadness Buzz Archive here and catch up on this content written especially for you (by me!). It's a great way to meet like-minded artisan sourdough aficionados and be part of this journey I started back in 2016. And now for this week's Buzz...

Edible Magazine SFV Celebrates Its  First Year...

In October 2022, Tami Chu, publisher of Edible Magazine Ojai/Ventura County, contacted me and asked if we would like to give her new San Fernando Valley edition to our customers. Tami didn't know that I've been a fan of Edible ever since I first saw it during trips to Ojai over the past 8 years (the Ojai edition has been around for about 20 years). I told Tami, "Absolutely!" and we've been sharing this fine, artisan, small shop publication with our customers ever since.

If you haven't already received the hardcopy, we're happy to give you one (while supplies last!) next time you come to the bakery. If you want to read the new issue right now, just click/tap the image above and read away. You'll find Random Acts of Breadness in the Holiday Gift Guide on pages 23-25 of the digital edition (pages 21-23 in the hardcopy).

Customer Spotlight: Harriet Schock

Harriet Schock was writing and performing songs in the 70s when her debut album Hollywood Town was released. Helen Reddy happened to hear one of Harriet's songs on the radio, recorded her own version of it, and it became a mega hit for the Australian songstress. "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady" was nominated for a Grammy and Harriet Schock was on the map! Harriet has continued to write, perform, collaborate, teach songwriting, write articles, act (stage and screen) and host a periodic songwriters showcase, SNAP!

Last Sunday I attended a concert in celebration of the release of Harriet's new album, Paintings, featuring 15 new songs. Most of the album tracks were performed that night featuring Harriet and her long-established band (shown above L-R): Jennifer Richardson, Eden Livingood, Kelly DeSarla, Andrea Ross-Greene, Harriet Schock, Joe Lamanno. It's amazing how Harriet continues to create songs that resonate with people from all walks of life. And she tells the stories behind the songs which is half the joy of seeing Harriet in person.

If you'd like to see a video of Harriet and Andrea performing "You Are" during a "house concert" at my recording studio in 2014, click/tap here.
