At the beginning of each academic year, RLC's Parent Orientation welcomes both new and returning families into a thoughtful, joyful, and intentionally designed experience. The goal is not to inform parents about the school. The goal is to welcome them into it.

At I CAN ELC Vesu, families explored the 100 Languages of Learning — the understanding that children express meaning not only through words and worksheets, but through movement, art, relationships, curiosity, and wonder. Riverside children co-hosted the orientation, making learning visible through their own voices and presence. Parents did not hear about how their children learn. They witnessed it.

At I CAN ELC Anubhav, parents experienced the same learning processes their children engage with every day. Through the Think Throughs — a structured experience designed to spark imagination and divergent thinking — parents were handed everyday objects like an umbrella and invited to explore every possible use beyond its obvious purpose. In that moment, parents didn't just understand the pedagogy. They felt it.

At I CAN ELC Vastrapur, the orientation centred on the belief that parents and educators are stronger when they work together. Through Think Throughs and thoughtfully designed experiential activities, parents had the opportunity to connect with one another, build relationships, and experience the kind of learning journey their children engage with every day. Families left feeling aligned with the school’s values and confident in the journey ahead — moving from anxiety to anticipation, from questions to confidence, and from individual efforts to a united team.

What RLC has practised, research affirms. The most effective orientation treats families not as passive recipients of information but as active participants as teachers, decision-makers, supporters, advocates, and learners. A 2024 evidence map across 48 studies confirmed that effective orientation must be culturally responsive and phased over time - not a single event, but an ongoing process of building trust and shared understanding.

Once trust is established with parents, educators gain something invaluable — the freedom to innovate and explore in the best interests of every child. Because now, your parents are your believers.

 11 founders and school leaders came together with one shared intention - to look beyond classrooms, processes, and practices, and experience what it truly takes to build a thriving school culture.
