The sun is shining, and the weather is finally warming up. It's 6°C (around 42°F) today, and the sun is shining, which means I can finally give my SAD lamp a break.
It won't last, but I can enjoy it for now. Where I live, you can't trust that the weather has actually turned until after the May long weekend. You don't want to know how many garden plants I killed before I realized that.
When we moved into our current house, on May 21st several years ago, a few of my houseplants spent the night outside and it snowed! I lost the most beautiful Christmas cactus that day. Thankfully, I finally learned my lesson. |

False Spring isn't the only amazing thing that happened this week. We had a visit from my favourite cousin, and her adorable dog.
Alan, despite being approximately one tenth the size of Mina, managed to take control of the house. We have three giant dog beds and at one point, Alan had all three to herself, while Mina and Rocky took refuge elsewhere. Okay, they didn't really take refuge. Rocky was sleeping his afternoon away, as he usually does. Mina was confused why Alan didn't want to play tug of war with a rubber chicken so she was pouting.
The craziest thing about the whole visit was my amazing cousin. She drove 3 and a half hours EACH WAY just to hang out for the day. It's been a couple of years since I've seen her, so it was especially good to spend time together. But still. 7 hours of driving to see little ol' me? I feel so loved <3 |
