Greetings Swimmers,
I hope you are all as excited as we are. The moment you have all been waiting and working so hard for is almost here. Next Saturday, you will all be gathered on Washington Beach to take part in the 18th Annual Point to La Pointe Open Water Swim.
This will be the last email communication via email before the race. After this, any upcoming updates will be posted on the website on the Swimmer Information Section of the website. I know everyone has watched the mandatory video and knows where to find the latest updates.
Without further ado, here are the latest updates.
1. Caps on the water - sometimes caps break, should your cap come loose, please tuck it into your wetsuit and bring it with you. We get nervous when we see floating caps in the water. Thank you for your cooperation.
2. Getting pulled out of the water - All swimmers that have not reached the mid point by 9:30 am (red buoy), will be pulled out of the water. All Swimmers out of the water by 10:05 am.
If you get pulled out of the water, have a plan with your family. How will your family know that you have been pulled out? Have them look at the Bib tents on the finish line. When a swimmer makes it to the finish line, their chip is placed by their bib number on the tent. If a swimmer has been pulled out or has canceled ahead of time, there will be a withdraw card on the tent in lieu of the chip.
3. The link to the race results is up on the website. https://www.bayfieldrec.org/point-to-la-pointe.html We will also have signs with the Results QR Codes throughout the finish line. You, your friends and family can scan the QR code and it will take them to the results page where it will indicate if you have finished or have withdrawn.
4. Cancellations - If you're thinking of cancelling, please email. Don't forget to include if you want your hoodie mailed to you.
Also, remember For all racers of POINT TO LA POINTE, we have the support of a wetsuits sponsor and XTERRA WETSUITS is offering its
Vortex Sleeveless for $129 (reg. $350). You must use your unique code of R-POINT on this special page:
www.xterrawetsuits.com/ctc If you're looking for a new or a replacement wetsuit. Take advantage of this sale.
We look forward to welcoming all of you to our little neck of the woods. On behalf of RFR and the Bayfield Rec Center, we thank you for taking part in this, our biggest fundraiser to support the Bayfield Rec Center. See you all next Friday. Here we go, here we go, here we go!!!!!
