Children's Book WeekToday begins Children's Book Week, the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. Established in 1919, Children's Book Week
is administered by Every Child a Reader, which is The Children’s Book Council's charitable arm.
Children's Book Week promotes literacy and a love for reading. It celebrates the joy of reading and encourages children to explore new stories and authors. It also highlights the importance of diversity in children's literature and supports the development of critical thinking skills. The state of kids and reading is a topic often discussed in the bookstore. Are they reading these days, what are they reading, and how important is reading to a child? YES, children ARE reading! They read picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, joke books, how-to books – all kinds of books! We all know that reading is crucial for kids; those who read nurture their power to think, understand, and dream. Spark a child's imagination and love of reading by giving them a new book to read this week!

Children's Book Drive May 1-31 Each year, Copperfish Books holds a Spring Book Drive to benefit local children served by the Early Learning Coalition of Florida's Heartland. The books we collect are much-needed to help the kids strengthen their reading skills. The theme for the Book Drive is: Books to Inspire Imagination.
If you'd like to help, purchase a "book bundle" and we'll select the books for you. We'll also have copies of the specific books requested by the folks at the ELCFH if you'd like to select for yourself.
Copperfish Books will donate an additional 5% of those sales to the cause. THANK YOU!
