Lego League Gearing Up For Competition

South Milwaukee Middle currently has 14 students who make up two First Lego League teams.

Both teams are in the midst of preparing for upcoming competitions on Sunday, December 10th in Franklin, Wisconsin by engaging in research, problem-solving, and coding.

Each team is building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game.

We are very proud of all the hard work that the teams are putting into their efforts and we wish them all the best in their upcoming competitions!  Go Rockets!

Positive Lessons

   in the Long Run

For South Milwaukee special education teacher Jodi Kleinfeldt, long distance running gives her the opportunity to provide her students with valuable life lessons.

A veteran of four marathon competitions as well having experience as a triathlete, Kleinfeldt believes the rigors of distance running and training can serve as motivation for her students when they need focus and energy inthe classroom.

Report cards are as a part of school as pencils and chalkboards. The goal of the report card is to give parents an idea of where their students are in their studies and an early-warning sign that they might be struggling in a subject and need some help.
Schools and school districts have report cards too – for many of the same reasons.
In this episode we’re going to hear from some of the people who report the data back to the state, and who also use that data to improve how our schools operate.
We’ll also hear from superintendent Deidre Roemer about some system-wide changes to help South Milwaukee schools improve for students – and on the report card.
