Preschoolers Find Their Center

Mrs. Kelly's students love center time! Children learn through play, and
centers give children activities that reinforce learning through creative play. The students built block towers using imagination and coordination. While learning about families, students practiced cooperation and role- play with toy figures. Students enjoy being able to choose different activities and playmates from day to day.
Much Ado about a Zoo

Yesterday, the first-grade classes traveled to Tampa to visit the zoo at Lowry Park. Entering the zoo grounds, they were greeted by several macaws performing an impressive and hair-raising flyover. Students, parents, and teachers then split into groups to explore. Highlights included feeding birds in the Canopy Aviary, seeing the Malayan tiger in Asia, riding a safari to see the rhinos, elephants and giraffes of Africa, touching the stingrays, and observing the orangutans! The students discovered that an up-close encounter with wildlife is worth a thousand pictures from afar.
Students Wade into Watercolors

Grammar students in grades Kindergarten through 4th recently studied the master artist, Georgia O'Keeffe. Using watercolor crayons, they created their own works of art based on O'Keefe's close-ups of flowers and her love of the rolling hills of the American West. O'Keeffe is recognized as one of the premier creators of modern art in the 20th century. Even in her final years, when macular degeneration had stolen most of her eyesight, she continued to paint, assisted by others. To learn more about her, click here.

Stay tuned for works by the next master artist, Frederic Remington.
Fourth Grader Readers in Full Force

Mr. Carty's class has set a goal of reading 30,000,000 words this year. They are well on their way, reaching their first milestone of 7,000,000 words this week. Please encourage them in this big endeavor when you see them!
SRCS Theatre Department Prepares for Fall Show

Excitement is in the air! Get ready enjoy Seven Rivers Christian School's fall theatre show, Holy Mother of Bingo. An innocent bingo fundraiser at the Our Mother of Mercy Church goes awry when parishioners mysteriously drop dead! The evidence suggests well-calculated murders, but who is to blame? Tensions rise as everyone identifies suspects.  Past feuds rear their heads as the members of the parish proclaim their innocence one by one. Who could be behind the elaborate spree? Everyone is a suspect -even the audience- in this zany comedy that takes interactive theatre to a whole new level!"

Every ticket to this event will help raise money for the Seven Rivers Fine Arts Department. You can buy tickets on GoFan.co by searching for Seven Rivers Christian School.
The Circle of Life

Deputy Gentile visited the environmental science class to learn about food webs in different ecosystems. A food web is a more complex view of how energy is passed between organisms, and it contains several, often overlapping food chains. The seniors constructed sample food webs which provide visual aid to understanding how God created ecosystems to function and flourish.

Senior year often feels like it is flying by. With all that students need to accomplish before graduation, it can be difficult to track what should be done from month-to-month. Above is a general timeline to help both parents and students stay on track. Questions? Get in touch with the Academic Advisor at knelson@sevenrivers.org
