Taking Directions and Making Connections

Person to Person is a fun preschool activity that gets children moving, laughing, and working together. In this activity, children pair up with a partner while the teacher calls out playful commands like “elbow to elbow,” “side to side,” or “hand to hand.” Each direction encourages the partners to connect in silly, creative ways, helping kids practice listening skills, cooperation, and body awareness—all while having a great time!
Revved Up for a New School Year

First Graders have a well-loved tradition of starting the school year by making edible school buses. Nothing signals a sweet year ahead like a frosting-covered graham cracker bus with Oreo wheels and cereal windows!
Test Prep, Plotlines, and Pancakes

Last week the second graders prepared to take their first novel test on Nate the Great. They worked together to study the different parts of the plot.
To cap off the completion of the novel, the students paid homage to the breakfast-loving main character by making and eating pancakes. What a delicious start to second grade literature!
Rain, Rain, You Can Stay

Indoor recess is often a reality, especially during the rainy season here in Florida. The second graders' enthusiasm for recreation could not be dampened by a little inclement weather.
Let's Go, Warriors!

Mr. Carty's fourth grade class is leading the way in school spirit, with almost 100% participation in Warrior Fridays!
A Small Group with a Big Purpose

Thanks to the Parent Connect, the Ninth Grade Small Group was treated to cake and cupcakes. Small only in name, this growing fellowship has a heart to learn and serve together. Stay tuned for what we have planned for our school projects!
Freshmen Make a Name for Themselves

The freshman bible class is learning about the Tower of Babel. They were able to test their hubris by competing to build the biggest block tower.
Chemistry Students in Their Element

The upper school laboratory has been very busy with Mrs. Goforth's students exploring the elements. They made non-Newtonian fluid and attempted to blow bubbles with different mixtures of bubble solution. If you have ever played with "Oobleck" (cornstarch and water), admiring its changing form, did you know you were actually handling a non-Newtonian fluid?
Meet Our New Staff
Mrs. Rodriguez - Upper School Office Manager

My name is Crystal Rodriguez, and I am a St. Petersburg native. In 2024, my family and I moved to Citrus County, and we have quickly fallen in love with this community. My husband and I will be celebrating 25 wonderful years of marriage this November. We have three daughters—our oldest is married and lives in Lynchburg, Virginia, while our two youngest are just 10 months apart, both freshmen at SRCS, and active in a variety of sports and activities.

Outside of school, family time is very important to us. We enjoy being on the water and are excited to continue exploring all that Citrus County has to offer. We also have two dogs—Charlie, a chocolate lab, and Skipper, a bernedoodle.

For 20 years, my husband and I served in full-time ministry before making the move here. This December, I will be graduating from St. Petersburg College with my bachelor’s degree in management & organizational leadership with a focus in digital marketing. I have a passion for organizing and creating processes that help make things run smoothly and efficiently.

I am grateful to be part of SRCS and look forward to getting to know all the students and their families.
Mrs. Tutka - Sixth Grade Science

I was born in Minnesota and raised on a small hobby farm. After high school I attended St. Cloud State University and obtained my degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Coaching and Sports Medicine. Following college, I served in the US Navy working in the cytogenetics laboratory at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC. During my service I obtained an Associate of Science in Medical Laboratory Technique from George Washington University.  Upon my departure from the military, I began my teaching career that has now surpassed 30 years. I received my theology training through Concordia University in Minnesota. In my free time I love working out, watching sporting events and following current world events.

I look forward to diving into the amazing world of science with each class this year. Regardless of the topic being studied, we will always find Christ at the center of it, for he is truly THE MASTER SCIENCE TEACHER!
Mrs. Pickel - Preschool Aide

My husband and I moved to Citrus County from New Jersey in May of 2020. We have a son, Lukas (5) and daughter, Cienna (4) who are both in VPK this year at SRCS. It is an absolute blessing to be able to work where my children attend school! We have been members of SRC for almost 5 years now, but we have attended SRC for over 12 years when we would vacation to Citrus County over the summers. My family and I love to go camping whenever we can! I also enjoy going to the movies and soaking up the sun at the beach.  I am really looking forward to seeing all the students grow throughout the school year!
Mrs. Harris - First Grade

My name is Tiffany Harris. This is my second year in education and first year at Seven Rivers. I earned my bachelor's degree in early childhood education at the College of Central Florida. I was born and raised in Florida, and was married in 2022. My husband and I love spending time with our friends and family. We have two dogs, Koda and Loki. I am excited to spend this year watching my first-grade class grow academically and spiritually. I look forward to a wonderful Warrior year of learning!

From the Advisor's Desk

Serve Others First

Teaching our students to become servant leaders in their communities is one of our core values and we require all upper school students to participate in community service.  In 7th and 8th grade, students are asked to complete five hours per year. Students in grades 9-12 are required to complete twenty-five hours per year, with at least three of those hours serving on the Seven Rivers campus.  While service hours do not roll over to the following year, it still benefits a student to earn more than twenty-five hours.  Many scholarships specifically look for students who go above and beyond in their efforts to serve their schools and communities. Service hours are also used as one part of the qualification process for the Bright Futures Scholarship. Additionally, students who earn more than 200 community service hours will receive the Community Service Distinction at graduation.  Community service forms are located outside Mrs. Nelson's office and on the school's website.
