It's been quite a journey since St. Patrick's Day 2022!

Hard to believe this photo was taken just one year ago!

The Quenelle Ice Cream sign was still in place, our temporary Breadness sign was mounted in the window, and our Lucky Leprechaun sliding down the rainbow into his pot of gold (loaned to us by Robert Welch) beckoned all who walked past to come inside and taste some magical Breadness.

It was around that time that we showed up in the #1 position on yelp for Best Bread in Burbank! Last I checked, Random Acts of Breadness is still there, thanks to people like you who have shared your experiences on line and with friends and family. We are truly blessed to have you as part of our family, too...

The Irish say, "There's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow."

At Breadness, we say, "There's a boule of bread at the end of the rainDOUGH." 😄

St. Patrick's Day is a time of respect for the man who had a great impact on what is now Ireland. Through the years it's also become a time to celebrate the spirit of the Irish with food, drink, music and dancing. (And if there's one thing the Irish know how to do better than anyone else, it's that Irish Step Dancing made super famous by one of my favorite productions, Riverdance!)

We may not be able to teach you how to dance like Michael Flatley and Jean Butler, but we make a pretty tasty sourdough bread that goes well with most Irish-inspired fare. Even Darth Vader has something to say about that...

So whether you're planning on traditional corned beef and cabbage, a pot of Irish stew, or a vegan or vegetarian dish, remember to pick up one or more boules of our sourdough bread. Just look for that pot of gold and that rainbow in front of our bakery this weekend...

Cinnamon Raisin Maple Pecan Sourdough!

Friday and Saturday we have a fresh batch of this versatile bread that makes a great French Toast or the perfect accompaniment for tea or coffee (naked or lightly toasted). And when you add Raw Farm Butter or NuttZo Nut Butter & Laura Ann's Jam, we're talking about the ultimate Breadness experience!

Let there be music!

You probably know that there's a connection between Random Acts of Breadness and music. Many of the beneficiaries of my early days of making and giving away sourdough loaves were (and still are!) musicians. One of those founding "beta tasters" is Linda Wehrli, pianist, music and art instructor and founder of The Athena Foundation of the Arts. Linda has endeavored to bring world-class music artists to the Valley by producing a series of concerts held on Sunday afternoons at the new Performing Arts Center at the Church of Scientology of the Valley in North Hollywood. Tickets are a fraction of what one would pay to see similar talent at Disney Hall, and a big plus, parking is convenient and free at this venue. A poster showing the concert lineup for this year is posted in our window at the bakery with a convenient QR code you can capture and explore later. Or just click/tap the above photo to access the Athena Foundation website. Let's help Linda in her quest to make the Valley a cultural destination for fine music.

We started with 72 loaves on the shelves, curing overnight for sale on Friday, but then 8 were shipped off to customers and gift recipients in Florida, Texas and Southern California. We also have 10 online orders ready to fill first thing Friday morning. And I'll be baking 60 more loaves today and 48 more on Saturday.

We are open Friday & Saturday 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.(-ish)
