A lucky selection of pupils from Year 4 and Year 5 attended the School Games Movement Matters event at Alnwick Castle this morning. Looks great fun!

Children from Year 1 have had a great first week at football after school club. Newcastle United Foundation has certainly put them through their paces and they are excited to progress their skills over the coming weeks. 

Year 2 got the bug in a visit to Seaton Delaval Hall on Wednesday. The children looked for bugs in the kitchen garden, made bugs and creepy crawlies out of clay, had a lovely picnic with our friends and thoroughly enjoyed the park in the woods!

Alongside our usual fantastic morning activities, Central Upper's Breakfast Club went high energy this week! The children had a blast taking part in football, dodgeball and a fantastic hula-hoop disco. 

It was wonderful to see so many smiling, active faces so early in the morning. Because these activities were such a huge hit, we are currently looking at ways to build similar active sessions into our regular Breakfast Club routine moving forward.  

The club is open to children from Reception to Year 6 (not Nursery) at Central Upper and Central Lower free of charge from 7.45am to 8.30am. No pre-booking is required.

It was a fun filled afternoon for 4AK, who took part in this year's DT challenge making their own boat out of recycled materials and adding their own flag. They all worked brilliantly to make sure their boat could float and was sturdy. Thank you to parents/carers for collecting together recycled materials, enabling children to make such fantastic boats.

The winners of our 'May the attendance force be with you' challenge -  drawn from the names of all children in class on all 13 school days between the two Bank Holidays before half term - were absolutely thrilled to collect their wonderful prize hampers. Well done to all the children who achieved 100% attendance this time. Keep up the fantastic work!

4AK had the best day ever at Newbiggin East Beach on Wednesday. They made nests for eider ducks, did a small beach walk to litter pick and bird watched with binoculars. They even got to play in the park after their lunch and learned loads about the wildlife that lives on our coastline. An excellent day all round!

Children in Reception have loved bringing our key text The Enormous Turnip to life! They have thoroughly enjoyed learning how to plant seeds and discovering what makes them grow. It’s been fantastic to see RAS so engaged in their hands-on learning this week.

Year 2 had great fun on a number hunt! The children searched high and low to find odd and even numbers, using their maths skills to sort and identify them correctly. Fantastic teamwork and number detective work from everyone.

We are currently on the hunt for a range of old phones for a Year 1 History topic that we will be studying at Central Academy in September. We are looking for a range of phones including mobiles, landlines and rotary phones from across the ages and they do not need to work.
