The Indigenous Data Champions Fellowship seeks a cohort of 20 Tribal staff, Indigenous leaders, professionals, and community representatives in the U.S. to exchange and create knowledge, tools, and relationships necessary to enhance Indigenous Data Sovereignty (IDSov) and Governance (IDGov) within their communities. There is still time to join this cohort. The deadline has been extended to apply by November 30, 2025!

IDSov Masterclass

On Tuesday, April 14 just prior to the 2026 IDSov & Gov Summit, the USIDSN will host an IDSov Masterclass. The aim of this IDSov Masterclass is to share insights, strategies and tools with those who want to better understand how they can engage with IDSov and how it can benefit their communities and organizations. Invited experts will take participants through sessions focused on various topics focused on IDSov Foundations; Data for Governance and Self-determination; IDGov frameworks; Relational Infrastructures; and Growing Data Warriors.

The Masterclass sessions are designed to be lively and interactive with plenty of opportunities for small-group discussion. For this reason, the Masterclass will be capped at 100 people and available to Summit participants on a first-come basis.

Data Trust Webinar

To establish Indigenous data sovereignty and meet international data standards and principles of CARE, FAIR, and TRUST, Indigenous Peoples need to be able to a) find their data, and b) exert decision-making and control over how it is used and by whom. To participate in the data and AI economy, Indigenous Peoples need to also curate the data according to community needs and publish it according to community standards and expectations for access and future use. This webinar is focused on the work of developing Indigenous community (or place-based) data trusts which can leverage the power of holding aggregated data for community benefit. These trusts can establish community-level control for data privacy and also allow for the potential of new data insights and predictions. The webinar brings experience from Maine and French Polynesia on the work of developing Indigenous data trusts.
