Reminder: PTSA Volunteering Requirements

RMS PTSA is welcoming volunteers back into schools! With activities and volunteer needs increasing, there are three important requirements that need to be met before volunteering for the PTSA at RMS!

1) RMS PTSA Membership
You must be a current-year member of the RMS PTSA. To become a member, go to https://rmsptsa.org/Packet/Join. Membership scholarships are available to anyone without an application process; simply choose the "scholarship" option.

2) LWSD Volunteer Approved
You must be LWSD-background-check approved. All volunteers must apply and be approved before beginning volunteering. Volunteer approvals are valid for two years. For more information, please visit https://www.lwsd.org/get-involved/volunteering-in-lwsd/volunteer-application-process.

3) Vaccine Mandate
LWSD follows Governor Inslee’s vaccination mandate regarding K-12 volunteers. As of October 18, in-person volunteers will have to be vaccinated. The district will review proof of vaccination. For more information on how to provide proof, please visit https://www.lwsd.org/get-involved/volunteering-in-lwsd. The next Teams Online Open House to show your vaccine card is Monday, January 3, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 PM. Please register here.

School & LWSD

Winter Break (Repeat)

Winter Break is from December 20-31. School resumes on Monday, January 3, 2022. For a quick view of all school dates, you can view the 2021-2022 LWSD Calendar.

Inclement Weather Updates (Repeat)

When emergency conditions such as snow and ice or windstorms result in school schedule changes, the district will notify families directly through the SchoolMessenger automated phone system. You can learn how to know when school is delayed or cancelled on the School Closures and Late Starts page of the district website.

Here are some other ways to find out about school schedule changes:
Pop-up alerts: on lwsd.org and school webpages

Local TV/radio stations: they get a feed from Flashalert.net of all school schedule change decisions
