Thank you for another successful Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 28th. Hartford collected just over 37 pounds of meds. Thanks again to our partnerships with HPD and the Coop for making this possible. As a reminder, there is a medication drop box at the police station lobby that is accessible 24/7. If you or someone you know would like a free medication lock box or bottle, please email kellyc@hccvt.org.

This Veteran's Day, we are spotlighting HCC Board Member and VA employee Nikita Wilson
|
HCC Board Member Nikita Wilson is a 2009 HHS grad who attended UNC and previously worked for Maui Habitat for Humanity in Community Relations as well as the Upper Valley Habitat for Humanity.
Nikita currently works at the VA in the Business office dealing with Eligibility & Enrollment for new and existing veterans. She loves how involved HCC is in contributing to bettering our community for not only our youth but all of our residents. She is eager to continue to aid in that contribution.
One thing she has loved about Hartford since she was a child is the sense of community. She had the privilege of growing up in Hartford surrounded by wonderful community members, teachers, coaches and residents. She says "Hartford has cultivated a vigorous community influence in my life and I want to be of service of providing that back to Hartford community."
Thanks for all you do, Nikita!!

Men's Health and Suicide Prevention
|
November is a month dedicated to changing the face of men's health - specifically focusing on suicide prevention.
Movember, the leading charity changing the stigma of men's health, offers tools like Movember Conversations to help men navigate difficult conversations, recognize mental signs among their peers, and overcome the stigma associated with seeking help.
Finding the courage to speak can be challenging, especially when dealing with stress or anxiety. The same goes for others feeling overwhelmed or under pressure - it's often easier to withdraw instead of offering assistance.

Free Virtual Presentation: Teens, Social Media, and Mental Health |
The majority of young people report that social media helps them feel more connected to friends and provides critical support during challenging times. Yet young people today also report being more stressed and anxious than ever. So what is the relationship between screen time and mental health and wellbeing?
In this interactive and energizing presentation, Erin Walsh will cut through conflicting information and share the latest evidence about screen time’s impact on youth. As opposed to framing tech as all “good” or all “bad,” Erin will use brain science, warmth, and humor to identify key strategies that promote resilience and digital well-being. We'll be addressing your screen time struggles with science and understanding.
