The Curtis and Edith Munson Foundation has awarded Ella Kate Baker, a current student of The University of Alabama’s College of Communication and Information Sciences, a scholarship grant for a summer internship with Black Warrior Riverkeeper.

A Petition for Rulemaking was granted by the Alabama Environmental Management Commission after seven conservation organizations urged the state to update and publish amended toxicity values for twelve priority toxic pollutants, such as arsenic and cyanide.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals agreed with conservation groups and ruled this month that the Environmental Protection Agency acted unlawfully in declining to update water pollution control standards for seven major industries.
