As April arrives, I’m enjoying a sense of opening - to new ideas and opportunities, and a growing appreciation for community, especially here in Hackney Wick.
I’m hugely grateful to all who came and danced in the woods on Thursday. It felt so magical to return to our familiar glade, my music a shared soundtrack to connect us through dance, with so much freedom to express ourselves in our own unique ways. As darkness fell, the fire shifted up the dancing energy, later becoming a calm presence for our post-dance gathering.
Our monthly dance at Social Yoga last Friday was another evening that warmed my heart. As the space came alive with movement, it was wonderful to weave amongst it all, feeling a real sense of community spirit that carried through to our time relaxing together at the end – a beautiful way to start the weekend.
Alongside my own dances here in Hackney Wick, I’m also participating in other local events. On Saturday 25 April I’ll be sharing a dance at a new local day festival, Play Fair (details below).
I’m also excited to be part of a new event on Sunday 12 July – a sober community festival across multiple Hackney Wick venues. With offerings spanning dance, movement, sound and voice, it’s being created to be accessible to all, without the barrier of money. It’s organised by local resident and dear friend Ayavaa, who recently launched her podcast
New Human Identity – well worth a listen. If you’d like to get involved, you can reach her at
