As we begin the year, we’re stepping into 2026 with much more clarity,, and a renewed focus on prevention. From launching a new initiative with young people, to global features that spotlight trauma-informed leadership, to powerful work led by our fellows across regions, this month reflects what Parity Lab does best: naming what’s missing, and building what’s needed. <3

Here’s what we’ve been up to.

đź’« In the Spotlight: The biggest news to open the new year with!

🌱 Project Greenlight!

Mathangi in the Brown
This year, we’re excited to officially launch Project Greenlight,  Parity Lab’s new initiative focused on healthy relationship education and early harm prevention.

Project Greenlight responds to a gap we see everywhere: most people are taught how to respond to harm after it happens, but not how to recognize unsafe dynamics early, when confusion, coercion, or silence first begin to take root. Through partnerships with schools and youth-serving spaces, Greenlight equips young people and the adults who support them with language and tools to understand emotional safety, power, boundaries, consent, and both red flags and green flags in relationships.

By starting earlier, Project Greenlight aims to shift relational norms before patterns harden, supporting healthier choices across personal, academic, and professional life. More details coming soon as the project rolls out! Stay Tuned!

🧠 Authority Magazine Feature:

Mathangi in the Brown
Our Founder & CEO, Mathangi Swaminathan, was recently featured in Authority Magazine, where she spoke about a pattern she sees repeatedly in her work: we wait far too long to talk about trauma.

The feature explores why trauma literacy matters as prevention, not just recovery, the everyday skill of noticing how stress, power, and safety show up in our bodies, relationships, and workplaces before things escalate. The conversation is especially relevant for leaders, educators, and anyone working with young people in today’s high-pressure environments.

✨ Parity Lab’s Newsletter Featured!

Parity Lab’s monthly newsletter was recently featured in Leading Visibly as part of “The Women Shaping Business and Culture - One Podcast, Book & Newsletter at a Time.”

The feature spotlighted how Parity Lab’s newsletter goes beyond updates to serve as a trauma-informed storytelling and systems-change tool. Each of our newsletter editions shares media coverage, fellowship updates, and resources, grounded in survivor-led wisdom and practical insights that support early harm prevention. Parity Lab is beyond grateful for this recognition! <3

🌟 Fellows' Stories:

1. 🤝 Unmute x TrustIn x UNLEASH: Tech for GBV Prevention
We’re excited to share that Unmute is partnering with TrustIn for this year’s hackathon on “Tech Solutions to Gender-Based Violence,” aligned with SDG 5: Gender Equality.

The hack brings together young builders to work on tech ideas that can shift mindsets, strengthen legal pathways, improve reporting, and support survivors. We're so proud of our alum fellows, Ayushi Bhati and Meghana Srinivas, for bringing something like this together!
2. 🇮🇳 Community Work Highlight: Anita Kamble’s Organisation - Ankur
On January 26, 2026, a women’s gathering was held under the leadership of Tasleem Inamdar from Ankur Swayamsevak Sansthan, our alum fellow, Anita Kamble’s organisation.

The gathering brought women together for community connection and dialogue, creating space for shared experiences and collective strength. Moments from the event reflect the power of local leadership and grassroots action in building safer, more supportive communities.

Resource of the Month📚 :

🎤 TEDx Talk: Akosua Dardaine Edwards on Radical Self-Love

We’re highlighting a powerful TEDx talk by Parity Lab alum Fellow, Akosua Dardaine Edwards, author, entrepreneur, and founder of the Enabling Enterprise Project!

In her talk, Akosua shares how a simple question asked by a group of African women helped her reconnect with her own story and practice radical self-love. Drawing from her work with women and youth entrepreneurs across the UK, Caribbean, Africa, and India, the talk offers reflections on identity, empowerment, and transformation.

Akosua is also the author of “What Did I Learn Today? Lessons on the Journey to Unconditional Self-Love” and “Nyabo (Madam) – Why Are You Here?” — both deeply aligned with Parity Lab’s focus on self-trust, dignity, and leadership from within.
