The Role We Can Play in Preventing Underage Drinking and Driving
Nationwide and MADD partner to empower parents and prevent underage drinking. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that car crashes are a leading cause of teen deaths, and one-quarter of fatal crashes involve an underage drunk driver.1 In fact, in 2020, 29% of young drivers 15 to 20 years old who were killed in crashes had blood alcohol content levels of .01% or higher. In many cases, these incidents are largely preventable, and parents can play a crucial role in deterring their children from drunk driving. Research shows that simple, intentional conversations with teens can help prevent underage drinking and drunk driving.

Did you Know : Your Auto May Not be Insured Correctly While Gig Working When you are out trying to make some extra money doing Shipt, DoorDash, Uber, or Lyft in your personal vehicle, you need to have a Commercial policy to be covered correctly. If you are involved in a car accident, your personal auto policy will probably not pay for damages to your vehicle or provide any coverage for injury to your passengers or others. Some carriers offer an extra rider to be added to give you a little coverage. Call us to discuss you specific carrier in more in detail. A Commercial policy does cost a little more per month, but it will pale in comparison to the cost of medical bills and pain and suffering damages that you might be responsible for if you are involved in a crash without the correct coverage. Below are some links for some of the gig jobs that are out there:*Uber and Lyft drivers in Michigan must be registered with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) . Click here to learn more about this and other requirements in regards to Transportation Network Companies (TNC's).You need to check with the TNC or delivery service that you are working for and ask them about what they cover in case of an accident. Give us a call if you have any questions. We want to make sure that you can use your insurance if you need to.
