While each of us, as part of the BCC community, gets to play our role in carrying out the mission of our shared ministry together, there is one group who each summer gets to play a gigantic role in living into that mission directly – our summer staff. While paragraphs could be spent extolling their virtues and sharing how they are some of the best people you ever could meet, perhaps more meaningful is to hear directly from them on the impacts they felt in serving on summer staff this past summer.

These were just a few of the parting words shared by this year’s summer staff members:

“I have made so many lifelong friends and have found a group that I know will always be there for me no matter what. Through all the good and bad times that we have shared together (no pun intended), we have all gotten so close. The people are who make me want to come back again and again to camp.”

“I gained a lot of confidence in myself over the summer, realizing how creative I can be and how pushing myself to try new things is important."

“Everything we do at camp, from the shortest hike to a session during staff training on ages and stages has greatly benefitted me and showed me the importance of hard work and community.”

“Through rough terrain and flowing creeks, I believe I gained a new perspective of how the world works, and how I can change it for the better in my own ways.”

As you’ll read below, a lot is happening centered around these incredible individuals. Winter Connect is coming up as we welcome back to camp both staff and campers for some cold-weather fun. Applications for joining staff for Summer 2025 are now open and we encourage you to pass along this opportunity to the talented young people in your community. And we’re getting excited for Giving Tuesday, where this year we’re investing in this next generation of the BCC community. Your support will amplify the positive impacts demonstrated in the quotes above as we together continue to create an environment to grow and nurture summer staff so that they can reflect that in their care and role modelling for our campers.
